HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-002 Water Service Connection Fees CITY OF CHUBBUCK RESOLUTION No. #2-96 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CHUBBUCK, IDAHO, AMENDING THE FEES TO BE CHARGED BY THE CITY FOR WATER SERVICE CONNECTIONS TO THE MUNICIPAL WATER SYSTEM. WHEREAS, Section 13.08.410 of the Chubbuck Municipal Code provides that the fees for water service connection to the municipal water system shall be set by resolution; NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Chubbuck that effective upon passage, approval and publication of Ordinance No. 368, fees for service connections shall be as follows: I. WATER SERVICE CONNECTION FEES Before a service connection is installed, the property owner shall pay to the City Treasurer a ready-to-serve charge as follows: A. Minimum Charges. In case the installation is to be either in an unpaved street with the applicants property line thirty feet or less at right angles from the center of the street where the main is tapped, or in an unpaved alley with the property line ten feet or less from the center of the alley where the main is tapped, or on private property with the property line five feet or less from the tap in the main, the minimum service charge shall be as follows: 1. For one-inch service connections in which two services and meters are installed in one meter vault, the minimum service charge shall be $550 each, including administrative charges. 2. For one-inch service connections in which one service and meter is installed in one meter vault, the minimum service charge shall be $700 each, including administrative charges. B. Additional Charaes. For trench excavation and backfill and/or in case the property line is more than thirty feet from the center of the street where the main is to be tapped, or more than thirty feet from the tap in the main on private property, or if the installation is to be upon a paved street or alley, or if the installation is through other improved areas containing sidewalks, driveways, curb and gutter, trees, landscaping or other similar improvements there shall be added to the minimum charge the actual cost of labor and materials plus administrative charges. At the discretion of the city, the property owner will be responsible for trench excavation and backfill and appropriate traffic control at the owner's expense. C. Charges for installations larger than one-inch. For a service and meter installation larger than one-inch, the ready-to-serve charge shall be determined by the Public Works Director at the time of application for such service. Such charge shall be fixed by the estimated cost of materials, equipment, labor, general conditions of installation, and administrative charges. Seventy- five percent of the cost of such installation shall be paid by the applicant before such installation shall be made, the balance to be within thirty days after installation, or the service can be discontinued until all charges can be paid. At the discretion of the City, the property owner will be responsible for trench excavation and backfill and appropriate traffic control at the owner's expense. II. ADMINISTRATIVE CHARGES Administrative charges, as provided by Chubbuck Municipal Code Section 13.08.410, to be added to the costs of water service connections, shall be ten percent (10%) of the cost of materials, equipment, labor and other applicable costs.
