The second portion of our asphalt maintenance plan for this year, after the previously approved milling
and paving project, is to have micro surface material applied to various streets. We started the bidding
process but decided to stop that bid process and wait to see what results the City of Pocatello received
from their bid process. We believe that Pocatello's prices are as good or better than we would receive
because their project is substantially larger than ours. Therefore, we would like to "piggyback" on
Pocatello's bid and hire the same contractor to complete our work while they are in the area. The
contractor's proposed cost, based on Pocatello's bid, is attached and summarized below:

VSS International $528,700.00
The streets we will have micro surfaced are selected from our pavement management plan. We are still
refining that, but a preliminary map of selected streets is attached. Some changes may still be made to
ensure we get the most benefit from the project. Based on our 2024 budget, we believe that we will be
able to complete even more than what is included in the contractor's proposal for a total cost of up to
$729,000.
It is my recommendation that the City Council approve the Mayor to execute a contract with VSS
International in the amount of $528,700.00 for the Type III Micro Surfacing Project, with the option to
add work up to a total cost of $729,000.
