CALL TO ORDER: Mayor England
COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Norman Reece, Dan Heiner, and Melanie Evans.
STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Kevin England, City Attorney Ryan Lewis, Public Works
Director Bridger Morrison, Public Works Operations Manager Kami Smoot, Community
Services Director Devin Hillam, Police Chief Nick Sasser, Human Resource Director Scott
Gummersall, City Treasurer Rich Morgan, and City Clerk Joey Bowers.
Mayor England excused Councilmember Roger Hernandez from the meeting.
GENERAL BUSINESS:
1. Skate Park Study and Location Discussion.
Community Services Director Devin Hillam stated that there has always been
discussions about building a skatepark somewhere in Chubbuck. Mr. Hillam and the
Mayor had been contacted by a local skateboard nonprofit group, Southeast Idaho
Skatepark Association, to see if the City would be interested in finding land and helping
to raise funds for a skatepark facility in Chubbuck.
Dave Van Etten represented Southeast Idaho Skatepark Association (SISA). Mr. Van
Etten presented the concept for an all -wheel park that will include a skatepark, and that
would also be ADA accessible. SISA had been working with private donors and
Southeast Idaho Council of Governments (SICOG) on receiving federal grants as funding
for this project.
Hillam suggested that the Council consider funding a study and concept designs with
parks development impact fee funds for a location at Miller Park. Once a location and
designs are developed, this would greatly enhance the ability for the skatepark
association to seek private donations and grant monies to help fund the skatepark (or
larger "all -wheels park") in Chubbuck.
