The plan was intended for up to 20 years of guidance for public and private development, and conditions have certainly changed since that time. Funds were included in the budget for a consultant contract to update the plan, and the City has received a Comprehensive Planning Grant from the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health (BCIFH). The grant aims to assist local governments to strengthen policies and possibilities to improve the community's health in numerous ways in the Comprehensive Plan, and to ensure well-rounded public participation in the planning process. The Foundation refers to the 29 Social Determinants of Health recognized by the Kaiser Family Foundation to improve community well-being. A Comprehensive Plan can address several of these items but not all. Consultant.: After reviewing the proposals a selection committee recommended J -U -B Engineers for the contract. J -U -B is in the process of completing a similar plan for the City of Jerome, which was also partly funded by the BCIFH. The City Council will discuss the consultant selection and contract negotiations at their regular meeting on June 7, 2023. Study Session: At the June 13, 2023 meeting staff will present several topics related to planning and the long-term needs of the city. Discussion will include a draft timeline, Commission presentations and recommendations, and expectations for the consultant.
