In an effort to protect the vehicles and equipment and reduce maintenance expenses, the Sanitation
Department would like to have two parking buildings built at the maintenance yard. To keep costs as
low as possible, the buildings are intended to be simple buildings with metal roofs and siding on three
sides as shown in the attached figures. This project was included in the department's capital plan and
budget for this year. We bid this project first back in November 2022 and received a low bid of
$585,335. After discussing options with contractors, we made some changes to the plan and re -bid the
project this month. The City received one bid which is summarized below:

The City's budget for the buildings was $275,000, however, it appears we may be able to cover the extra
cost within the existing overall budget since some expenses are on track to be under budget. If the
project is awarded and it appears the Sanitation Department may exceed its budget later in the year, we
will need to make a separate request of the Council to open the budget and utilize additional reserves.
The bid appears to be responsive and meets the requirements of the bid documents. It is my
recommendation that the City Council approve the Mayor to execute a contract with RS Jobber, Inc. in
the amount of $401,810.00 for the construction of both buildings.
