HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-04 Building ValuationsCITY OF CHUBBUCK, IDAHO RESOLUTION No. 2021 t5�f A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CHUBBUCK, IDAHO, ADOPTING UPDATED BUILDING VALUATION METHODS AND BUILDING PERMIT FEES For many years Chubbuck Municipal Code § 15.04.090 based the valuations of buildings for purposes as assessing biulding permit fees upon the 1997 addition of the Uniform Building Code. The Building Department has advised that such valuations do not reflect market values or actual costs and result in the under reporting of building and construction values to various entities that result in Chubbuek's valuation statistics not being reflective of actual costs. The Building Department has recommended updating valuations based upon actual market costs but adjusting the computation of fees so that the assessed cost of building permit fees will not change significantly. The design of the updates is such that building permits will remain within a few dollars of the current methodology. The Council has adopted Ordinance No. $Z 8 ("Ordinance") which amends Code § 15.04.090 to allow for periodic review of construction costs by the Council and the establishment of fees from time to time based upon the costs of construction. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: The attached Exhibit setting forth the Valuation Methods for Residential and Commercial Construction is hereby adopted along with the Fee schedule for Building Permits, Plan Reviews and other Inspections and Fees. This Resolution shall take effect May 1, 2021 to allow for the RESOLUTION - Page 1, chubbuck 041421 res re building valuations and feesmpd publication of the Ordinance to become effective. Any Building Permit issued prior to May 1, 2021, even if the Ordinance has become effective shall be assessed based upon the current methodology.
