CITY OF CHUBBUCK, IDAHO
WHEREAS, inhabitants of the City of Chubbuck, Idaho,
receive in-patient and out-patient medical services from
St. Anthony Commmunity Hospital, which is privately
operated, and Bannock Memorial Hospital, which is operated
by Bannock County, Idaho; and
WHEREAS, rising costs of patient care at both facilities
reflect the increased complexity of medical technology and
the inefficient allocation of resources which results from
maintaining two major hospitals in close proximity to each
other, serving the limited patient load generated by north
Bannock County; and
WHEREAS, it appears to the Chubbuck City Council that
consolidation of hospital facilities and services within
a unified medical center, tailored to meet the present and
future needs of this area, would best serve the public
interest; and
~{EREAS, operation of such a medical center by a
private enterprise would help to conserve tax revenues
at a time when municipal and county budgets are becoming
more tightly restricted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ..MAYOR AND
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHUBBUCK, IDAHO, that the City
of Chubbuck declares its support for construction of a
new hospital facility in north Bannock County in which medical
services can be consolidated under efficient operation of
a private enterprise.
