HomeMy WebLinkAbout1979-005 Idaho Air QualityCITY OF CHUBBUCK, IDAHO RESOLUTION NO. 5 79 WHEREAS, the Federal Clean Air Act of 1970 and subsequent amendments require the Federal Environmental Protection Agency to issue air quality standards for those air pollutants which have an adverse effect on public health, and further require each State to adopt a comprehensive plan for attaining and maintaining the levels of air quality specified by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency; and WHEREAS, the Idaho Air Quality Implementation Plan is a set of procedures, rules and regulations which are designed to reduce levels of air pollution in Idaho. to levels consistent with the air quality standards specified by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency, and to protect those areas of the state where pollutant concentration is below applicable standards; and WHEREAS, the City of Chubbuck is located in an area heavily impacted by air pollution from industrial and other sources; WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the City of Chubbuck find that the implementation plan for the control of air pollution in the state of Idaho prepared by the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare provides a good basis for immediate air pollution controls to protect the public health and welfare; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of Chubbuck, Idaho, that: 1. The Mayor and Council of the City of Chubbuck find, and hereby declare, that the public interest of this community is served by the adoption of increasingly strict air pollution standards by the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare. 2. The Mayor and Council of the City of Chubbuck recommend that the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare adopt the Idaho Air ~.Ouality Implementation Plan, and update the plan from time to time with increasingly strict standards as technology and circumstances allow.
