23rd day of August, 1977.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CHUBBUCK, IDAHO, DECLARING THE
NEED FOR ADJUSTMENT IN THE SALARIES OF ELECTED OFFICERS;
ESTABLISHING THE SALARIES OF THE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE
CITY COUNCIL; REPEALING CONFLICTING PROVISIONS OF PRIOR
ORDINANCES; AND PROVIDING ~EN THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BECOME
EFFECTIVE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHUBBUCK, IDAHO:
SECTION 1: Declaration. The salaries of the Mayor and
members of the City Council have not been adjusted since
they were established by ordinance in 1973. Since that
time, inflation has reduced the value of compensation
provided to the City's elected officials, while the duties
of these officials have increased substantially as the
growth of the community has placed rising demands upon
municipal government. Salary adjustments are required in
response to these circumstances.
SECTION 2: Salaries. From and after the effective
date of this ordinanace, the salary of the Mayor of the City
shall be five hundred dollars ($500.00) per month, and the
salary of each member of the City Council shall be two
hundred dollars ($200.00) per month.
SECTION 3: Repeal. From and after the effective date
of this ordinance, all provisions of prior ordinances which
conflict with this ordinance shall be repealed to the extent
of such conflict.
SECTION 4: Effective Date. The provisions of this
ordinance having been fully discussed in several meetings of
the City Council, the public media having carried news
stories regarding the proposed salary increase, and there
being a need to enact the ordinance prior to the time fixed
by law for approving the budget of the City for the next
fiscal year, the rule requiring ordinances to be read on
three (3) separate occasions is hereby dispensed with, and
this ordinance shall become effective on January 1, 1978,
following its passage, approval and publication as provided
by law.
