HomeMy WebLinkAbout11 28 2000 CM163 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES November 28th, 2000 Minutes of a regular meeting held at the Chubbuck City Council Chambers, November 28th, 2000. Present: Mayor John O. Cotant, Council members Leroy S. Quick, Steven M. England, Marvin C. Gunter, B. Kent Kearns, Attorney Thomas J. Holmes, Public Works Director Steven M. Smart and City Clerk Ron C. Conlin. Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Cotant. INVOCATION was given by Bishop Bruce Richman, Chubbuck 6th Ward, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG was lead by Britton Fuller. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - Mayor Cotant asked for corrections or additions to regular meeting minutes of November 14th, 2000. Councilman Kearns moved to approve the regular meeting minutes of November 14th, 2000 as read, subject to the spelling correction of"marijuana, and the production of commercial hemp" on page 159, Councilman Gunter seconded. All council members voted in favor of motion. BEER, WINE AND LIQUOR LICENSE APPLICATION - Steven L. Rice, Ramada Inn, 133 W. Burnside Ave. has applied to sell beer, wine and liquor at the Ramada Inn, 133 W. Burnside Ave. Police Department recommended approval of the beer, wine and liquor application. Councilman England moved to grant a beer, wine and liquor license to Steven L. Rice, Ramada Inn, 133 Burnside Ave, Councilman Kearns seconded. All council members voted in favor of motion. AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF 1990 GMC SUBURBAN - Councilman Gunter expressed concern about how often the suburban will be used, how soon will it pay for itself. Council asked PWD Smart to meet with Departments Heads to see how much use there will be. Councilman England moved to table the "Authorize purchase of 1990 GMC Suburban until the December 10th, 2000 Council Meeting, Councilman Gunter seconded. All council members voted in favor of motion. 165 COUNCIL MEETiNG MINUTES - (cont.) November 28th, 2000 LETTER TO DAHO PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION - Mayor Cotant stated PWD Smart drafted a letter stating the City of Chubbuck expresses its concern and protest to the rate increase requested by Intermountain Gas Co. PWD Smart said he will put the draft letter on City Letterhead, after Mayor Cotant and Council signs the letter it will be mailed to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission. CLAIMS - Computer print-out claims presented to Mayor Cotant and Council. Councilman England moved to approve computer print-out claim as presented, Councilman Kearns seconded. All council members voted in favor of motion. GENERAL DISCUSSION - 1. Mayor Cotant read a letter from the United States Census Bureau presenting the City of Chubbuck a Certificate of Appreciation for City of Chubbuck's Employee service and cooperation as a token of the Census Bureau's recognition. At 8:00 p.m., Councilman England moved, Councilman Quick seconded with full council approval to adjourn meeting. Ron C. Conlin, City Clerk
