HomeMy WebLinkAbout04 Greetings, What a beautiful day. This week Spring begins and I believe that we are all ready for that. The forecast is for it to be in the Mid 50’s all week long. Hip, Hip, Hooray. With Spring comes spring cleaning. We have a beautiful community. Let’s all be committed to do our part to keep it that way. Where improvements are needed let’s commit to “pick up our game.” I know there are some things that I can do at my house to make it look even better. Also let’s be aware of neighbors who may be in need of some help this time of year. Especially our elderly that live in our area. There are others, that life’s circumstances may necessitate some offers of help. Let us be kind and generous as we make these heart felt offers. What an exciting time to live in Chubbuck. So much good is going on in our area. We have high hopes that the developments that will be coming to our city will enhance the great attitude and feel of this friendly place we call home. The cooperative spirit that we have seen exhibited thus far says this will be the case. There is such a positive, upbeat feeling in the work that the city is engaged in right now. Our citizens are the greatest and others want to come and be part of this kind of a forward thinking people. The best is yet to come, and I believe that the best will come. Together we can make this happen. We are in the process of making the plans that will transform the existing city hall into a modern day, well equipped, police headquarters for Chubbuck’s finest. Chief Guiberson and his staff are doing an excellent job leading this effort out. A new animal control facility is also going to be built. We are also working with our architect, Myers/Anderson, to get the best design for a new city hall. We announced last week that we will be building on Burley, where the Thomas Petroleum Offices were. This will help create an anchor for creating a down town for Chubbuck. We are hiring a Construction Manager /General Contractor to help us get this done right at the right price. We should have that contract signed within the month. Growth is coming to Chubbuck and we are committed to see that it is coming in the right way. A way that will be a blessing to us all. With the warm weather it reminds us that the children in the community will be out playing in the parks, riding their bikes, and occasionally in the roadways. Encourage your children to use the sidewalks while on their bikes, or the paths around many of the city parks. If they are in the streets remind them to always watch for traffic, and to always wear a helmet. Be aware of the little ones in our community while you are driving your vehicles and always be aware of your speed. All resi- dential streets in Chubbuck are posted 25 MPH. Effective April 30th you must have your studded tires removed from your vehicles. Keeping the studded tires on after that date is a violation of state law and is also a safety hazard. At high speeds on dry pavement the studs in the tires will hea t up and cause excessive tire wear, loss of traction and damage to the roadways. Very soon all of the canals will have water in them and this always seems to draw the curiosity of children throughout the summer. Just a reminder that the canals are private property, and they are owned by Fort Hall irrigation. It is very danger ous for anyone to be in the canals and you may also be cited with trespassing. This would also apply to ATV ’s and motorcycles riding on the canal banks. If you see any children in or around the canals contact the police department immediately. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Chubbuck Police Department at 237 -7172, emergencies call 911 Message from the Police Department
