It seems the years are speeding by. It is my sincere hope that 2014 holds good memories for each of us. The beginning of a new year brings with it the duty to reflect on the past and plan for the future. Life is filled with many challenges and opportunities. Sometimes it may feel like life is what is happening to us while we are making other plans, but the making of those plans is very important. Even if it seems that things seldom turn out exactly the way we planned them those plans certainly do provide the direction that we are going. Goal setting and the working to achieve those goals make us, to the degree that we can be, the masters of our own destinies. This is true both individually and as a community. As your Mayor I would like to tell all citizens of the City of Chubbuck Idaho that we who represent and serve you are working hard to move things forward in a positive way. Setting goals and making olans are the center of the ways things work here at city hall. I hope you have all heard by now about Amy's Kitchen. They are the company that bought the Heinz Plant. What a wonderful company. They have made a commitment to invest in us. I enjoyed the opportunity of working with Mayor Blad, Bannock Development and other community player as well as state officials in getting this business to locate here. Whereas it is true that this business is in Pocatello, the employment opportunities they will bring to Chubbuck are a blessing. I would encourage each of us to become familiar with this company and support them in any way possible. Many of their products are available to us at the local Walmart. I have also had the opportunity to write letters of support concerning the building of the 1.5 billion dollar Magnida Fertilizer Plant in American Falls. It looks very positive that this plan will move forward. It will bring a lot ofjobs to our building industry for the next couple of years as they build, as well as the new jobs they will bring to our area as they complete building and hire new employees. :. This letter is a little late in posting this month because of the challenges we r< experienced with snow removal on ' Christmas Day. Garl account of what exactly went on. Here is what I have found. This was a very unique experience and with it came some interesting challenges. We have not had a snow event like this one for a number of years and to have it come on Christmas Day made it even more of a challenge. Our equipment and men were out and running as would be usual on a vacation day. The storm however was not usual. It came down wet at first which provided a layer of ice under the rest of the snow that fell that entire day. We also had wind that drifted this snow. As I have talked to surrounding communities the same challenges that we experienced were also there experience. All in all I think that our employees performed very well. I want to thank our citizens for their support and patience with this event.
