The Water level in our wells is holding about
the same as a normal year. We encourage
you to water your lawns. Do not let your
grass burn up. Do not waste water washing
curb and driveway areas. Water your yards in
the early morning, late afternoon and during
the night. The city is watering a couple of
locations during the day where new grass has
been planted.
We will begin construction on North
Hawthorne Road, Interstate to Chubbuck
Road in about 3 weeks. By pass this con-
struction if possible. The less traffic the
easier and faster for construction. We plan to
complete this about the first of October.
To property owners who have a fence that
borders a sidewalk, corner lots, along any
street would you periodically check the
sidewalk, clean up broken glass or cans and
sweep dirt and gravel into the street where
the street sweeper can clean this.

The Chubbuck Police Department is in the
process of re -structuring several of its
community policing programs, and adding
new ones that will assist both the community
and the police department in continuing to
make our community an attractive and safe
place to live.
Volunteers anywhere from Senior Citizens to
young adults are welcome. Volunteers are
needed for the following areas:
1. Partnership Volunteers: These volun-
teers will take on the job task of manning
the Chubbuck Police Substation at
Pineridge Mall. Some of their duties will
be encouraging community input, and
serving as a liaison between the commu-
nity and the police as to what our commu-
nity would like to see happen to make our
community a more attractive and safer
place to live. These volunteers need to be
Public Relations oriented, and enjoy
talking with people. These volunteers
will coordinate and oversee all of
Chubbuck's community policing pro-
grams, recruit volunteers, schedule
training and hopefully become trainers for
some of these programs.
2. Neighborhood Watch: Volunteers are
needed to start Neighborhood Watch
programs in their neighborhoods. They
will host an NW program within their own
block, and encourage neighborhood
participation. NW involves neighborhood
security, and property identification.
3. Citizens on Patrol: Citizens on Patrol
will be divided into several interest areas.
Volunteers may select which area that they
are interested in.
A. Nighttime Patrols
B. Daytime Patrols
C. Bike Patrols
D. Assist police on community
emergencies
E. Enforcement of handicap zones,
emergency zones, and senior citizen
parking zones around local
businesses.
4. Problem -Solving Volunteers: Volun-
teers will serve as a committee to assist
the Chief of Police on community
problem solving issues that may involve
traffic problems, city ordinance problems,
or criminal in nature. Volunteers will
seek input from the community and serve
as liaison between the community, police
department, and the Chubbuck City
Council.
5. In-house police department volunteers.
Volunteers will serve at the front desk,
and will assist with scanning and com-
puter entries. Volunteers will greet the
public and take initial reports and
complaints.
6. Volunteers called Police Assistants:
These volunteers will be trained to assist
with special duties within the department.
Such duties may be crime scene assis-
tants, assistants for juvenile programs,
etc.
If you have an interest in volunteering time
in any of these areas, contact Sgt. Steve
Hieb, or Captain Richard Webb, Chubbuck
Police Dept. 237-7172. The Chubbuck
Police Department would also like your
input as to whether or not you would have
an interest in a Citizens Police Academy.
Please let us know.

In our democratic form of government, city employees are public servants. We are anxious to
serve you in the best way we can. There are many maintenance and operational problems that
are faced daily. City employees find many of these problems and take care of them before
citizens become aware of them. Other times, you may spot something we have missed. We
encourage you to tell use about these problems so we can fix them for you.
There are also times you might wish to pass on a good word to city workers. We invite you to
use this form to "Tell It To City HaU"
