A company that does not wish a lot of pub-
licity has purchased the K-9 for the department.
As a department, we give our thanks for the
contribution. The police department is actively
involved in fund raisers to send an officer to
school to train as a handler.
For YOU GOLFERS OUT THERE, the
police department is having a golf scramble on
April 1311 at Highland Golf Course. We are in
need of 32 four -person teams. These teams can
be men, women, or combined. Local businesses
have donated lots of prizes. The cost is $45.00
per person. The money goes for a good cause.

CITY-WIDE NEIGHBORHOOD
COALITION:
The Chubbuck Police Department is looking
for volunteers from the city that would be in-
terested in representing their area of town as to
what policing trends they would like to see.
The coalition would be an instrumental group
that would set community policing goals and
would serve as a liaison between the police and
community as to what the community would
like to see. The coalition would work under
the Police Chief. The coalition would operate
out of the Chubbuck Police Sub -Station at
Pineridge Mall, and would get the community
involved in obtaining volunteers to run the of-
fice 8 hrs. a day. The coalition would not only
implement new programs, and projects, but
would oversee the activities of existing projects.
Classes for the community will be offered as
well. One need that neighborhoods have ex-
pressed, is "How do you recognize drug activ-
ity in your neighborhood, and what do you do?"
The coalition would select volunteers to work I
at the Sub -Station. The Sub -Station will serve
as an information source for the community.
This paragraph may sound boring, but get in-
volved!! We can make it a lot of fun. You may
come up with all types of suggestions of how I
citizens can be involved with the police. The
sky is the limit! The first coalition meeting is
set for April 151, 7:00 p.m. Call Sgt. Steve Hieb,
or Capt. Richard Webb for details.
