The week? following Christmas ONLY, the City will be collecting extra trash. You may place it by your cart for pickup. We will also collect Christmas trees placed just behind the curb for two weeks following Christ- mas, but please remove all lights, ornaments and CAUTION!!! NO HOT COALS IN THE GARBAGE. Our refuse collection truck had a narrow escape a few days ago, when the load caught fire from hot coals that had been dis- carded. Please be extra careful that no hot coals are put into the gar- bage. If you must dispose of this type of material be sure that it is thoroughly cold or has been drowned before disposing into the garbage cart. Please write your checks in black or blue ink for payments made to the City. Our check reader does not correctly read lighter colored ink. Thank you for your help with this matter. Protect Your Pet During Winter and Cold Weather In our area winter is a season of bitter cold and numbing wet- ness. Extra precautions during winter months will make sure your four -footed family mem- bers stay safe and warm. The winter heating season is upon us, so it is a good time to remember the dangers of wood -burning appliances. More than one-third of Americans use fireplaces, wood stoves, and other fuel -fired appliances as primary heat sources in their homes. Unfortunately, many people are unaware of the fire risks when heating with wood and solid fuels. Heating fires account for 36 percent of residential fires in every year. Often, these fires are due to creosote buildup in chimneys and stovepipes. All home heating systems require regular maintenance to function safely and effi- ciently. 2nd-AnnuaCChubbuck Christmas CaroCing Caravan December 20, 2013 6:30 -pm Come share in the Spirit of Christmas with your Chubbuck neighbors!
