There are 3 individuals running for Mayor and 8 running for 2 open seats on the City Council. As noted in this newsletter, the League of Women Vot- ers will be moderating a "get to know the candidates" forum on Wednesday, October 30th in the Chubbuck City Council Chamber from 6 to 9 PM. The Mayoral Candidates will take the stage from 6-7 PM and the Council Can- didates from 7-9 PM. The election will be held on November 5th from 8 AM to 8 PM. All elections are run by the county, your polling place will always be the same unless you have moved. A precinct map will be published in the newspaper. If you have any questions related to the voting process, call the county elections office (236-7330). Please vote, one vote can make a difference. Chubbuck Police and Fire Departments will again be sponsoring a "trunk or treat" activity on Halloween Day in the Pine Ridge Mall. I express my appreciation to all who made donations for this event. Some of the Mall Busi- nesses will also provide for "trick or treating" during the same hours with most of the stores participating. They ask that masks, heavily painted faces or hoods not be worn and that no toy weapons will be allowed. The fun will begin at 6:00 PM. Again this year we are asking those in neighborhoods that would prefer children NOT come to their door to please leave their porch lights off. We encourage either an adult or older sibling to accompany little ones. Let's do all we can to make sure Halloween is safe and fun. As we head into another winter season lets all be aware of those in our neighborhoods who may need some assis- tance with their pre -winter and winter chores. I again thank you for your efforts to make Chubbuck such a great place to live and do business. A Note From Our Police Department: With the approach of the holidays we need to keep in mind a few issues that may save the day. When shopping this season avoid leaving valuables in your vehicle in plain v ' sight. Keep your vehicle doors locked while gone and keep an eye out for suspicious behavior around you. At home, lock your doors and if away consider using a timer on your lights at night. Animal issues sometimes arise when our four footed friends create nuisances such as barking and running at large. Please be mindful of your neighbor by keeping your animal's noise levels at a respectful minimum and by keeping them on your own property. Barking dogs if found to be an annoyance whether it bothers the owner or not can result in a citation. Please be aware and courteous of your neighbors' right to reasonable peace. If we can keep these issues in mind and abide by these laws we can continue to enjoy this wonderful place to live. You may clarify these codes by going to http//www.cityofchubbuck.us/cpd/codeenforcement.aspx or by calling 237-7172 asking for Code Enforcement.
