HomeMy WebLinkAbout09— J City Hall 5160 Yellowstone / PO Bos 5604 237-2400 September 2013 Vol. 8 Issue 9 Message from the Mayor: On the 28th of August I made public that I will not seek a third term as Mayor in the upcoming Municipal Elec- tion. The decision was not an easy one. It has been such an honor and privilege to serve in this office for the past 8 years. I recognize the great trust that comes with this responsibility and have tried to honor that trust. I look forward to continue moving the City forward for the remainder of my time in office. The long awaited completion of Knudsen Boulevard is nearing. They are finishing the sidewalk and landscap- ing. As many of you know, the signal on the Yellowstone end is functioning now. A ribbon cutting with the Chamber of Commerce has been scheduled for the afternoon of September l Its' at 3:00 PM. All of the barriers will then be removed and the signal on Hawthorne will be activated. The ceremony is planned for the Haw- thorne end of the new road. It is our hope that this improvement in our road system will greatly enhance the future growth of the City. Over the time I have been authoring this part of the City newsletter, I have tried to conclude with a version of the same statement. 1 certainly am still of the same opinion that "CHUBBUCK IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE AND DO BUSINESS." Mayor England Note From Our Police Department The new school year is beginning which means that kids are going to be on the streets going to school. The Chubbuck Police Department would like to remind drivers that chil- dren can be expected near school zones and streets near schools. Please moderate your speed in school zones and in neighborhoods, and watch for children. Parking vehicles at our homes sometimes pose challenges. Some residential developments have small driveways with insufficient space to park between the sidewalk and the garage door. Cars parked on drive- ways in these areas usually leave no clearance for the sidewalk causing the vehicle to obstruct the sidewalk. Please consider others right to "free passage" of the sidewalks by not obstructing sidewalks. If we can keep these issues in mind and abide by these laws we can continue to enjoy this wonderful place to live. You may clarify these codes by going to: http://www.cityofchubbuck.us/cpd/ codeenforcement.aspx or by calling 237-7172 and asking for Code Enforcement.
