Message from the Mayor:
August 2010
It seems as though summer just began, and now school is just a few weeks away from starting again. We have had enough
hot weather to remind us that it is summer though. As you can see from reading the back of the newsletter, we again have
some exciting things planned for Chubbuck Days on August 13th & 14th. I would like to thank many of our area businesses,
as well as individuals and organizations, who are assisting in the success of our event this year. Signs located around the city
announcing the celebration have been provided by a partnership with Deloy Stuart and HomeSeekers Magazine. Norco is pro-
viding the balloons. Mike Shore of Advantage Plus Credit Union is again our parade chairman. Intermountain Golf Cars and
Robert Allen Auto Group are helping with transportation, and Walmart is donating the watermelon again this year. Ron
Conlin, our long time city clerk who retired this summer, and his wife Jerry are our Grand Marshalls. A lot of city employees
have contributed in various ways, but a special thanks to Wendy Butler and Nelli Simmons who have been invaluable in their
contribution to this celebration again this year. If you see any of these contributors, please give them a special THANK YOU.
I would like to pass on a suggestion from the city water department to those of you who have automatic sprinkler systems.
Our heavy use times for watering, according to our water monitoring computer, are between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM on Mon-
days, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Our suggestion is that those with even number addresses could continue on that schedule, and
those with odd number addresses could change to Tuesday -Thursday -Saturday watering. For those who are able to make this
adjustment, it should assist us in the providing more effective water management for the city during the heat of the summer.
Again, we remind all who water to avoid the heat of the day and to not water between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Thank you
for your cooperation.
Enjoy the rest of the summer. Drive carefully in your vacation travels, so you can make it safely back to Chubbuck -THE
GREAT PLACE TO LIVE AND DO BUSINESS.

Gate City Christian Church is partnering with the City of Chubbuck and
area businesses to help elementary school families in need. Children must
be present to receive supplies. Last year, over 540 students received
backpacks, and this year the goal is 750. if you would like to contribute
or volunteer for this event, please contact Jamie Aubrey at 237-5002.

Dance
at Capell Park
On Friday night, the
city will have a
youth dance at the
Capell Park hockey
rink (at the end of
East Park Lawn
Drive). The dance
will begin with DJ
music at 8:30 pm
and last until about
11:30 pm. It will
cost $3.00 per per-
son. All proceeds
will go to the High-
land High School
Student Govern-
ment.

PARADE 10:00 AM
We have many entries for
your family to enjoy:
floats, horses, custom cars,
music, our local military,
and other organizations.
The tradition of throwing
candy will continue unless a
significant incident forces
us to discontinue this prac-
tice. Please discuss safety
with your children and
watch them carefully. The
route will be slightly differ-
ent this year, which means
the procession will not end
up at Cotant Park.
Route:
The parade will assemble at
the Pine Ridge Mall. At
10:00, it will leave through
the mall back entrance con-
nected to Hawthorne Road,
and proceed down Haw-
thorne to Chubbuck Road.
The parade will turn left
onto Chubbuck Road and
follow it to Independence
Avenue. The parade ends at
the LDS church on Inde-
pendence.
FESTIVAL 11:00 AM

01i Car & Motorcycle Show
This year motorcycles will also participate in
this show. Come vote for your favorite. If you
have a special vehicle to show off, call us at
237-2430.
Food & Music
We have a variety of food vendors signed up to
serve your family's cravings, and there will be
free watermelon sponsored by Walmart at
2:30 pm. There will be DJ music all day. ism

Police vs. Fire Softball Game
Come cheer your local heroes to victory in their
traditional slow pitch softball rivalry at 12:00
noon!
Fire Department "Rain"
There will be fire trucks and educational equip-
ment on site and "rain" will fall shortly after the
watermelon feed, around 2:45 pm.
Want to Fly?
Back by popular demand, there will be helicop-
ter rides. The cost is $25.00 per person for a six
to eight minute ride. Children under 2 years old
may ride free on a parent's lap. Kids under 17
must have a parent signature to ride.
Come Watch the Tennis Tournament Finals
The city is hosting a FREE non -sanctioned adult tournament, open to all players
from beginner to advanced, and you do not need to be a local resident to enter. Play-
ers may enter two events (one singles and one doubles). Play will begin Thursday,
August 12th, and go through Saturday, August 14th, at Cotant Park. Championship
matches will be completed by late Saturday afternoon with prizes for I st & 2nd place
in each flight. Call Ron Osborn at 237-2430 for information.
