City of Chubbuck Newsletter
Vol. 8 Issue 6 City Hall 5160 Yellowstone / PO Box 5604 237-2400
June 2013
Message from the Mayor:
With the coming of summer, it is a great time to participate in neighborhood gatherings and share food and fun with
family, friends and neighbors. There are neighborhood parks in most of our subdivisions that could be used for this
purpose. A few of our larger facilities can be reserved for a fee, the fee can be waived it if is a neighborhood activity.
Call the City at 237-2430 for available times and dates.
There have been some concerns expressed recently about the City department budgets. It is appreciated when con-
structive criticism and suggestions are made. When our annual audit was presented to the City Council this spring, the
clerk's office prepared information on the budget. I asked them to provide a condensed version of that report with
some graphs to be included in this newsletter. I hope you will find it informative.
As we come to the end of another school year, we congratulate the Graduating Seniors and thank those involved
with education in our community. Even though we continue to face major education challenges, I believe our commu-
nity is well served.
A flyer has been included in this month's bill that gives the information for the new community wide 4th of July
celebration. It provides a fantastic way to celebrate Independence Day without the expense of travel. We encourage
your involvement. Fireworks sales will begin in the City at the end of June. It is important to only use approved fire-
works in approved areas and even then participate with care.
We are planning to have a terrific Chubbuck Days celebration the week of Saturday August 10th. We hope you can
plan to spend at least part of that Saturday involved with the parade and festival at Cotant Park. We plan to have a
dance on Friday evening at the Hockey Arena and perhaps another activity or two leading up to Saturday's events.
Have a great summer and thanks for making Chubbuck such a great place to live and do business.

City's Conservative Approach Results in Increase in Fund Balance
The City's Audited Financial Statements for the Fiscal Year Ended September 30, 2012,were completed March
29, 2013. The General Fund which includes everything with the exception of water, sewer, sanitation and the recrea-
tion program funds was budgeted for a decrease in fund balance of ($2,905). Due to actual revenues being more than
budgeted and actual expenses less than budgeted the fund balance increased by $335,957. This variance in expendi-
tures was due to numerous small savings in the general government area. During the fiscal year the City used a very
conservation approach to operating expenses due to the current economy.
