HomeMy WebLinkAbout04Vol. 8 Issue 4 Message from the Mayor: City of Chubbuck Newsletter City Hall 5160 Yellowstone / PO Boz 5604 237-2400 April 2013 We seem to be having a typical Idaho spring this year with March weather being windy, cold, and wet for a few days and then a preview of summer weather and temperatures the next few. We hope our sputtering March weather soon gives way to more consistent spring days in April and May. Two years ago we introduced an addition to the utility bill to provide funding for the payment of the upgrade to our sewer system. The commitment was made at that time that we would continue to try to find ways to reduce this cost to our rate payers. We are again able to make a reduction in the monthly amount charged. As you may recall, the original monthly amount was $16.85 and last year we reduced it $3.80 to $13.05 per month. This spring we will be able to lower the rate another $ 1.15 to $11.90 per month. This will be reflected on the utility billing due June 15, 2013. As has been stated in the past, it is our desire to keep you informed of City business and we try to do so through this news letter, the local media (newspaper, radio, and TV) and our website (www.cityofchubbuck.us ). We appreciate the productive input that we receive from many of you. As you can see from the information below, we are doing our clean-up day in conjunction with the Pocatello and the Chamber again this year. We are going to continue to have our typical events on Saturday May 4th and would encour- age your involvement as in past years. Thanks again for your participation in any activity or event that betters our community. Each of you can and do assist in continuing to make Chubbuck a great place to live and do business. A Note from Our Police Department: With spring upon us the Chubbuck Police Department would like to remind the citizens of Chubbuck about the importance of property maintenance. City codes require citizens to maintain their properties by keeping them reasonably free of weeds, cutting of lawns, clearing garbage, abandoned vehicles or other blighting influences. By keeping up the appearance of our properties we enhance the quality of life for all citizens and maintain property values. Fine weather draws visitors to our parks. Sometimes problems arise when we bring our four footed friends who sometimes use the park to relieve themselves. Please obey park rules by having your pet leashed at all times and by picking up after them. Fail- ure to do this may result in a citation, please be a good citizen. Parking problems in the area of Cotant Park is a yearly problem. If we all could spread the word that parking on Victor, parts of Bonanza, and Teton streets is restricted to resident parking with a permit only. Parking in violation of this restriction may cost you $10 per offense. Animal complaints are common in the summer. Barking dogs if found to be an annoyance whether it bothers the owner or not can result in a citation. Please be aware and courteous of your neighbors' right to reasonable peace. The heat of summer poses life threatening situations to people and animals. Do not leave your children or pets sitting in cars even if you are just running into the store. Please remember also that your pets left outside need shade and fresh water at all times. Failure to care for your animals may result in citation. 4ft- Recycle Guide Lines for City of Chubbuck ...................................................................
