Message from the Mayor:
March 2010
This is the time of year when the "doldrums" or "ho -hums" can set in. The holiday season is past, bills come due, the days
are still short, and winter can become tiresome. Even the news that the groundhog saw his shadow this year can be tem-
pered with the fact that, statistically, he is only right 39 percent of the time. Just remember that life is good, there is much to
be thankful for and spring is just around the corner.
Our regular boys baseball, girls softball, tiger and tee ball registrations are underway. Besides the reminder of the schedule
in this newsletter, there are informational signs out around the city. The Chubbuck/Pocatello Hockey Association has had a
successful experience this winter with ice hockey and will soon be transitioning to their roller hockey programs. I certainly
recommend that you drop by when you see activity at the rink and take a look at what they offer. We believe it is an activity
that will only grow in the future.
The 2010 Simplot Games has just concluded. I hope you got involved in some way. What a great opportunity it is for our
community to host this event. If you have never been, or haven't been for a while, I encourage you to be there next year.
"THUNDER IN THE DOME" is this year's version of the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo which is coming to Holt
Arena April 7`'—Io,h. There is no question that it has been and will continue to be spectacular and worthy of your support
and attendance. These two competitions do a great deal to put our area of the world on the map in a very positive way.
We have a great economic development team working on our behalf in the community. I believe that we will see more
positive progress and accomplishments, as we move out of this economic downturn. We are working and remaining en-
gaged in every way we can as a city to participate in these efforts. I believe this will make Chubbuck an even better place to
live and do business.

Branch Chipping
As a courtesy, each spring season the Mainte-
nance Department will come to your home and
chip smaller branches trimmed from bushes or
trees until the end of June.
These branches must be no
more than 4 inches in di-
ameter at the base and must
be placed in your front yard
behind the sidewalk.
When you are ready, just
call Public Works at 237-
2430, and we will put you on our list for chip-
ping. Our Maintenance crew normally makes
the chipping rounds on Monday. Remember,
this service is only through June 28th! Also
consider the Spring Cleanup on May 22nd for
getting your property looking great.
GROUNDWATER PROTECTION PROGRAM
To protect our groundwater
from the impact of too many
septic systems, a new sewer
collection system is being built
under the Northwest Sewer
Interceptor Program. Phase 1
will provide sewer service to
six of twelve square miles of
growth area which was studied
north and northwest of the City
of Chubbuck and will increase
some capacity within the city.
Engineers and city staff held a
public Open House in Febru-
ary for county residents to help
answer questions about this
sewer construction project.
Over 90 people took advantage
of this opportunity. They re-
solved many concerns and
some are making plans to par-
ticipate in the program.
The main roads affected by
construction will be Siphon
Road, Rio Vista Road, and
Hiline Road. A large sewer
lift station will be built on Rio
Vista Road. New main lines
will run roughly from the treat-
ment plant north on Rio Vista
to the new lift station and then
east in Siphon Road to Hiline
Road.

Street Light Service Requests
Idaho Power has given the city a new
procedure for reporting street lights that
are flickering or burned out. We can no
longer give them just a street address.
To ensure service, we must e-mail a
pole number to the proper person.
We mainly rely on residents to let us
know if a street light needs service, and
we appreciate it. We will then report
the need to Idaho Power. Please check
the pole for a number and call us at 237-
2430, and we will be happy to contact
them.

Registration will be SATURDAYS ONLY. Parents can no longer register at the city offices
during regular business days. Commissioners will be in attendance to answer questions. If the
child is new to the program, you will need to supply a copy of a birth certificate.
