HomeMy WebLinkAbout02The Connection City of Chubbuck Newsletter Vol. S Issue,? - Message from the Mayor: Jarrc urj, 2010 Our winter weather has been sporadic to say the least this year. Indications are that many of the mountain areas around us are getting a decent snow pack. Let's hope, as winter winds down, that the snow and rain we receive will be adequate. Let me remind you of a few of the annual events that roll around this time of year. The Simplot Games will be held the second week in February, and the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo is scheduled for the first part of April. Registration for our summer boy's baseball, girl's softball, and Tiger/T-ball will be held the end of February and the first of March. The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District has scheduled a levy renewal election for March 16"'. This is a renewal and would not increase taxes. With the dire financial situation that our schools are struggling with during this economic downturn, I would strongly encourage you to get informed and participate in helping this effort be successful. As the Mayor of Chubbuck, I serve as an ex -officio member of the board of the local Chamber of Commerce. I have found through this experience with them that they are very beneficial to our community. They regularly sponsor activities and pro- mote businesses which greatly enhance the progress of our area. February Fantasy, their major annual fundraiser, is sched- uled this year on Friday, February 5`h. I encourage our residents to watch for and participate in this and other Chamber sponsored activities. I also encourage businesses to investigate and consider the advantages of joining the Chamber. Infor- mation packets are available at city hall, or the friendly staff may be contacted at the Chamber Offices at 233-1525. I again express my appreciation to a citizenry that gets involved. Not every decision that needs to be made is black and white. I am confident that most of you, as do 1, try to make them with the best long term interest of our city and commu- nity in mind. I feel very privileged to be working with you in making Chubbuck such a great place to live and do business.
