County of Bannock Jeri Larsen ORDINANCE NO. 227 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CHUBBUCK, IDAHO, DECLARING THE NEED FOR ADJUSTMENT IN THE SAL- ARIES OF ELECTED OFFICERS; ES- TABLISHING THE SALARIES OF THE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; REPEALING CONFLICTING PROVISIONS OF PRIOR ORDINANCES; AND PROVIDING WHEN THIS ORDI- NANCE SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHUB - BUCK, IDAHO: SECTION 1: Declaration. The salaries of the Mayor and members of the City Council have not been adjusted since they were established by ordinance in 1977. Since that time, inflation has reduced the value of compensation provided to the City's elected officials, while the duties of these officials have increased substantial- fy as the growth of the community has placed rising demands upon municipal government. Salary adjustments are re- quired in response to these circum- stances. SECTION 2: Salaries. From and after the effective date of this ordinance, the salary of the Mayor of the City shall be seven hundred dollars ($700.00) per month, and the salary of each member of the City Council shall be three hundred dollars (8300.00) per month. SECTION 3: Repeal. From and after the effective date of this ordinance, all provi- sions of prior ordinances which conflict with this ordinance shall be repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4: Effective Date. The provi- sions of this ordinance having been dis- cussed by the City Council, and there being a need to enact the ordinance 60 days prior to the time fixed for city elect(on, November 3, 1981, in order to comply with Idaho Code and timely to Inform the public, the rule requiring ordinances to be read on three (3) sepa- rate occasions is hereby dispensed with and this ordinance shall become effective on January 1, 1982, following its passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
