A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHUBBUCK, IDAHO,
SUPPORTING THE CREATION OF A SPECIAL ASSISTANT UNITED STATES ATTORNEY PROGRAM FOR
SOUTHEAST IDAHO.
THIS RESOLUTION, is made on the date hereinafter set forth by the City Council of the City of
Chubbuck, Idaho.
RECITALS
1. WHEREAS, the U.S. Attorney's Office has limited ability to Prosecute federal violent crimes in
southeast Idaho with its current number of assistant U.S. Attorneys; and
2. WHEREAS, the State of Idaho has committed to fund a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney ("SAUSA") for
up to 75 percent of the cost of the SAUSA estimated to be $100,000; and
3. WHEREAS, a group of southeast Idaho cities and counties met on April 22, 2014, to evaluate the
feasibility of funding the remaining 25 percent of the cost of the Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the
amount of $25,000 per year; and
4. WHEREAS, the $25,00o cost would be shared by the southeast Idaho cities and counties in Proportion
to a formula based on the Populations in those jurisdictions. A COPY of the proposed budget is attached
to this resolution; and
5. WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the addition of a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in southeast
Idaho will enhance the ability of law enforcement to prosecute violent criminal offenders and
incarcerate them in federal prison thereby saving southeast Idaho cities and counties thousands of
dollars each year and improving the quality of life for the City's residents,
NOW THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The City Council of the City of Chubbuck hereby commits its suppo
SAUSA program and authorizes the mayor to attend future SAUSA rt to the concept of creating the
meeting and negotiate with other
cities and counties to create and fund the position. The City Council reserves its right to approve or
disapprove a final agreement involving the creation and funding of the SAUSA.
