A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CHUBBUC& STATING THAT HOUSING
DISCRIMINATION IS PROHIBITED BY LAW; DECLARING THAT IT IS THE POLICY OF
THE CITY OF CHUBBUCK TO ENSURE EQUAL HOUSING OPPORTUNITY;
INDICATING THAT THE CITY WILL ASSIST PERSONS WHO FEEL THEY HAVE BEEN
DISCRIMINATED AGAINST TO THE EXTENT OF AVAILABLE RESOURCES; AND
THAT THE CITY SHALL PUBLICIZE THIS RESOLUTION TO BRING TO THE
ATTENTION OF THE PUBLIC THEIR RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
WHEREAS, discrimination in the sale, rental, leasing, and financing of housing or land to
be used for construction of housing, or in the provision of brokerage services because of race,
color, religion, sex or national origin is prohibited by Title VIII of the 1968 Civil Rights Act, also
known as the Federal Fair Housing Law; and
WHEREAS, the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988 expands coverage against such
discrimination to include handicapped persons and families with children; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Chubbuck to affirmatively further fair housing
practices within the city,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CHUBBUCK AS FOLLOWS:
1 - It is the policy of the City of Chubbuck to implement programs to ensure equal
Opportunity in housing for all persons regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin,
handicap, or familial status.
2. The City of Chubbuck, within available resources, will assist all persons who feel they
have been discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, handicap, or
familial status to seek equity under federal and state laws by filing a complaint with the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity,
Compliance Division.
3. The City of Chubbuck will work with organizations Providing equal housing
Opportunities to lin-�ted-income households within the city.
4. The City's fair housing commitment will be demonstrated through, at a minimum: 1)
Printing and publicizing Of this Policy and Fair Housing Resolution annually and, as it becomes
available, other applicable fair housing information through local media and community contacts;
2) maintaining records pertaining to all fair housing activities; a d 3) assist 9 citizens with fair
housing questions, n in
issues, and complaints within available City resources.
