Cotant, Jr., Councilmembers Becky A. Hopkins, Leroy S. Quick, Steven M. England, Engineer Steven M. Smart and City Clerk Ron C. Conlin. Councilman Boyd L. Fullmer and Attorney B. Lynn Winmill were excused. Chubbuck Pride Committee Members Debbie Ellis and MarylHarker, Land Use~& Develop- ment Commission Members Pete Anderson and Robert Allen, Fire Chief Cary Campbell and Parks Director Larry Miller were present at the meeting. Meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m. by Mayor Cotant. PURPOSE OF THE MEETING was to discussi~deas for 1987 Chubbuck Days Celebration. Mayor Cotant suggested Councilman Fullmer be the Councilman over Chubbuck Days. Mayor Cotant made the following assignments for Chubbuck Days: 1) Fire Department-- Fire Chief Cary Campbell be in charge of the parade. Firs- Chief Campbell will make contact with all groups and individuals wanting to be in the Chubbuck Days Parade. 2) Park Department - Parks Director Larry Miller will be in charge of park activities~during the Chubbuck Days Celebration. 3) Chubbuck Pride Committee will be in charge of entertainment, awards and ribbon presentations. Mayor Cotant suggested using the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution as as the theme of the 1987 Chubbuck Days Celebration. Several suggestions for activities were discussed for the Chubbuck Days Celebratio~ Firemen Competition at the park Area Band performing at the park Honor Special Achievements by Chubbuck Residents Contests for children Children singing groups Antique Cars in the parade Veteran Groups in the parade Grand Marshal of parade Politicians in parade It was suggested Mr. & Mrs. George Lish be asked to be the Grand Marshal of the the parade. Maybe Mr. & Mrs. Paul Willecke. Mary Harker stated Chubbuck Pride would like to present the following awards: Citizen of the Year Vegetable Garden Landscaping Chu6buck Businessman of the Year Discussion about the budget for the Chubbuck Days Celebration. 53 CHUBBUCK DAYS DISCUSSION - (Cont.) Mary Harker and Debbie Ellis suggested they meet with Pine Ridge Mail,manager, Bob Mitchell in regards to getting all mall businesses involved in Chubbuck Days~ Celebration. Dan Meyers suggested they contact the Idaho State Journal and have the Journal work with the mall businesses creating sales and promotions. Mayor Cotant suggested all profits from Chubbuck Days go to the recF~ation depart- ment for improvements in the parks. After discussion it was decided there would be no Fireworks Program at the Chubbuck Days Celebration because of the high costs of liability insurance along with the fireworks costs. ~ At 8:10 p.m., Councilman Quick moved, Councilwoman Hopkins seconded, with full council present approval to adjourn meeting.
