Romriell and Paul Thompson also present were Jim Branson, Rod Parrish, Jack Menard, Allen Martin, Dwain Kinghorn, members of the zoning commission. Approximate 30 residents and property owners of Chubbuck. The first item of business was the request by Marshall Bros. to zone the southwest and northwest corners of Chubbuck Rd. and Hawthorne Rd. neighborhood commercial. The mayor said Bert Merritt and Chester Loveland owners of the opposite corners requested this not be zoned commercial. Bert Klein who lives on Hawthorne Rd said he rejected this being zoned commercial. He pointed out he and many others bought in the area to have country living away from business areas. Also that there are plenty of other areas along Chubbuck and YeLlowstone Rds. that should be commercial and developed before this area. He stated it would be better not to scatter commercial areas out at this time. Jack Landon who lives in this area also said he was opposed to commercial zoning of the area. Allen Martin living in this neighborhood expressed himself as against this being commercial. Dwain Kinghorn said inasmuch as there is no definite plan for Marshall Bros. to build at this time, and that Bob Grimes had accepted an R-2 zoning on the Boise Cascade property that he would vote for the property to be zoned F.-2. Jim Brans on ~ Allen Martin also wanted to zone this R-2. Rod Parrish said that inevitably this would be a commercial area and had been saved for commercial by developers. A vote of the commission showed 5 for R-2 and 2 for commercial. A motion made by Dennis Leslie to zone this property to R-2. A second was made by Earl Romriell. A vote of the city board showed all agreed on this. The next request by Ralph Bistline to zone the 11 acres he owns on Chubbuck and Hi-line Rds. to R-2T so he could build a mobile home estate. Max Parrish presented several drawings and explained the intentions of Mr. Bistline in building this mobile home park. Several owners living in the area expressed themselves as opposed to a trailer park. Discussion followed about the problem of sewerage especially in this area, also the shortage of water and the problem of the irrigation waste water. The proposal was made to make the lots facing Chubbuck Rds. R-2 making them wide enough for home construction and extending south 100 ft. from the Road right of way and the balance of this parcel of land R-2T for the purpose of constructing a mobile home park. The zoning commission voted & to i to zone this as above. Jim Branson voting against. Dennis Leslie proposed the city council accept this proposed zoning. A vote showed all the city council in favor. Arthur McOmber wanted to zone the land adjacent to Myrtle's place and 300 feet west of Yellowstone Highway for a Mobile home park. He was told where he is not the owner of this land nothing could be accomplished as nothing legally could be done. Mr. McOmber also asked for zoning all along the freeway so signs could be put up inviting tourist into Chubbuck. He was asked by Mayor Cotant to get the correct information on the ruling of erecting signs along the freeway, then we would act on this request. Meeting adjourned at 10:15 P.M.
