HomeMy WebLinkAbout004 01 71Minutesof the Zoning Comm~ssion meeting held April 1, 1971.
Meeting called to order by Chairman Del Peters at 7:10 P.M.
Pres ent ·
Del Peters, Allen Martin, Jack Menard and Dwain Kinghorn
John O. Cotant Jr. and Dennis Leslie were also present from
the city council.
Lester Selders and Farris Frank inquired, should they sell lO acres
running east and west along the canal and facing Hawthorne Road of the
Selders property, could this be approved for a mobile home park or a
residential trailer development. They were told there was no ordinance
for or against this type of development, but that there was not enough
water for a development of this kind and without sewer they would
probably not be able to get it developed. They also inquired about acre
tracts and were told there would probably be water for a development of
this kind.
Joseph R. Smith asked for permission to place a mobile home on his
property on Burley Drive. An answer was delayed until April 15, so this
could be taken under advisement, then we would give him an answer at
that time.
A group from the Hawthorne and Chastain area met to protest the multiple
housing unit going in on Chastain Drive. They were Mr. &Mrs Jack Stephens,
Earl May and Wm. Skaggs. This was referred to the City Council.
Mr. & Mrs. Gary Wilson at 3~6 Stuart requested permission to operate a
Beauty Salon in their basement. This would be I or 2 chairs only. This
answer was held until April 15.
Arthur McOmber made a request that he would like the sanction and approval
of the zoning commission that he could sell his lots on Burley Drive with
the understanding they could put a trailer home on these lots: until such
a time they could build a home. Also he is dealing with Mrs. Giannini on
the land laying between Myrtle's and the Handy Trailer Sales and West.
He would reserve 200 feet back for Commercial frontage, then he wants to
put in a Trailer Estate in the balance of the ground. This Estate would
have a recreation area also a swimming pool as time would permit.
The balance of the time was spent on ~oning various areas. A motion was
made by Del Peters to present the map as it is zoned to the city board for
their acceptance. It was seconded by Jack Menard and a vote of approval
by all present.
The meeting adjourned at 8:50 P.M.
