Minutes of the regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission held in
the city municipal building August 2, 1973.
Meeting called to order at $:lO p.m. by Chairman Jim Branson.
Present: Chairman Branson, Commission members Martin, Menard, Parrish and Peters.
PUBLIC HEARING ON Paul Brooks request to build a home on Lot !.Blk 3 Stuart 3rd
Additionwith a 16.5 feet rear yard setback instead of the required 20 feet.
Mr. &Mrs. James W. Bolough, 330 James, were present and voiced objection to
their back yard facing Brooks back yard and against allowing homes to be ~ilt
closer than ordinance allows.i 'M~. &Mrs. Gerald Beebe also voiced objection
to allow-lug construction any closer than ordinance allows. After a lengthy
discussion Allen Martin made motion the commission recommend to council the
variance be granted provided Mr. Brooks build a six foot screen fence from
the front of Mr. Boloughs house along Mr. Brooks back yard line. Del Peters
seconded with a unanimous vote in favor.
HEIGHTS SUBDIVISION - Rodney Clark requested the commission approve the pre-
liminary and final plat of his proposed subdivision. After some discussion of
plat Del Peters made motion the commission recommend the council approve the
preliminary plat. Martin seconded with a]_l in favor of motion.
After further reviewing the final plat Del Peters moved the commission
recommend the council approve the final plat subject to zoning change and
engineering approval. Parrish seconded with all commission members in favor.
Mr. Clark stated he would request an R-2L zone and also recommended the Layne
and Middleton property be zoned R-2L.
DISCUSSIONS - Commission members discussed the necessity of a proposed street
layout for the city.
Allen Martin again requested the M~i]ding inspector check the building being
erected on Winters property at A941 Hawthorne Road.
Commission member Menard reported council action on various items.
Meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
