HomeMy WebLinkAbout001 02 75PLANNING AND ZONING MINUTES JANUARY 2, 1975 Minutes of the regular meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission held in the municipal building January2, 1975. Present: Chairman James Branson, Commission members Allen Martin, Jack Menard, Rodney Parrish, Del Peters and Larry Rawlins. Ed Reese excused. Meeting called to order by Chairman James Branson. Minutes of December 5 meeting approved as written. PUBLIC HEARING ITEM: Mr. and Mrs. Allen L. Pierce and John O. Cotant, Jr. are requesting a variance in zoning which will allow Mr. and Mrs. Pierce to use a building at the rear of property at 4806 Hawthorne to warehouse products which is distributed in his business. Mr. Pierce operates Al's Distributing Company and would like to purchase the home and this building at 4806 Hawthorne which lies in a Residential -2 Livestock zone, if variance is approved and granted. Commission discussed the variance request. Rodney Parrish stated he felt the approval of variance would open up area to any commercial zone request and perhaps all of surrounding area along Chubbuck Rd. should be rezoned commercial. Other zoning members expressed they felt this zoning variance request would be controlled with minimum disturbance to surrounding residential area. After further disuussion Larry Rawlins moved the commission recommend the city council approve the variance allowing Mr. & Mrs. Pierce to warehouse products to operate Al's Distributing Company in the present building at ~806 Hawthorne and that all stipulation as to truck deliveries Stated in the letter be adhered to or variance would be rescinded. Allen Martin seconded motion with all commission members voting in favor with the exception of Rodney Parrish. Mr. Parrish voted against motion. PUBLIC HEARING ITEM: Vern E. Herzog, Jr., Attorney for Eastern Idaho Trailer Sales is requesting a temporary variance to locate a mobile trailer home to be used as an office upon property at ~212 Yellowstone from January 1 to February 15, 1975. Mr. and Mrs. Don Winegar represented Eastern Idaho Trailer Sales and reviewed the request. After a brief discussion Jack Menard moved the commission recommend the city council approve a temporary variance to locate a mobile home to be used as an office upon property located at ~212 Yellowstone, Eastern Idaho Trailer Sales property for the period from January 1 to February 15, 1975. Del Peters seconded motion with an unanimous vote of the commission in favor. Councilman Menard reviewed council's action on various items with commission and showed commission a map of proposed annexations to the city. Allen Martinmoved the commission adjourn and Del Peters seconded motion. Meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m. with plans to meet again January 23, 1975. Vera C. ArmStrong, Secretary J~es B.
