HomeMy WebLinkAbout010 14 80 Special mtgLAND USE & DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION MINUTES October 14, 1980 Minutes of a special meeting of the Land Use & Development Commission held in the city municipal building, October 14, 1980. Present: Chairman Mike Metcalfe, Commission Members Janet Williams, Dean Wood and Dwain Kinghorn, City Engineer Steven Smart and Secretary Dorothy Ward. Commission Members Dee Stalder, Richard Allen and Myrna Cain were excused. Meeting called to order at 7:10 p.m. by Chairman Metcalfe. Chairman. Metcalfe said meeting had been called to discuss enlarging scope of the Comprehnseive Plan - to iniate changing zoning from Industrial to Residential 2 (R-2). The Commission discussed the following: 1) Residential development adjacent to the Railroad tracks. 2) Having a Industrial or Commercial area adjacent to Railroad tracks. 3) Spot and strip zoning Commission Member Kinghorn said he had not had enough time to study the proposition to come to a reasonable conclusion. He also discussed with the commission members the fact the city cannot grow as only a residential area; that we should not shut out commercialand industrial growth. He said residential areas do not pay the cost of running cities that we need to have the other to stabalize. Janet Williams made motion to consider change in Comprehensive Plan to include all the land from the proposed Kunz-Shiozawa application south to Chubbuck Road, east of the Railroad tracks and west of Whitaker Road. Dean Wood seconded the motion. Williams, yes; Wood, yes, Kinghorn, no; Metcalfe, yes. Dean Wood made motion to adjourn at 7:55 p.m. seconded by Janet Williams with all commission members voting in favor. Dorothy L. yard, Secretary Michael Metcalfe, Chairman
