HomeMy WebLinkAbout001 07 99LAND USE AND DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION Thursday, January 7, 1999 Present: Chairman Pete Anderson, Mary Harker, Dusty Whited, Gayle Anderson, Myma Cain, Wally Wright, Ray Rosen, Kent Keams, Nolan Briscoe, Gerd Dixon, Larry Kohntopp, Teresa Strieber. Chairman, Pete Anderson called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. Chairman, Pete Anderson proposed in the last meeting that the LUDC should nominate a Vice Chairman. Chairman, Pete Anderson asked if there was any conflict with any of the items that are on the agenda tonight. There was no reply. Chairman, Pete Anderson asked for approval of the December minutes. Motion to approve by Wally Wright and motion seconded by Gayle Anderson. All in favor said yes, Ray Rose, yes; Wally Wright, yes; Myrna Cain, yes; Pete Anderson, yes; Mary Harker, yes; Nolan Briscoe, yes; Gayle Anderson, yes. Item No. 1' Application for Heritage West No. 6 Development. This is an application for a single family residential development. Nothing else needs to be added to the staff report and there are no questions for the city staff. Tim Shurtliff, Shurtliff Engineering who is representing American Heritage Approached the podium. The land being discussed for the development is north Of the existing Heritage West. Mr. Shurtliff asked for an R-1 which is consistent With what is already there. Chairman, Pete Anderson opens to the public for comment. There was no reply. Chairman, Pete Anderson ask for discussion by the commission. Kent Kearns proposed that the commission consider both items 1 and 2 together. Mary Harker makes a motion to propose to the City Council to change the property to $1 and that Township 6 be annexed into a single family dwelling off of Lexington Street to be approved. Motion was seconded by Myrna Cain. Gerd Dixon mentioned that this will finish the Heritage West Development. Roll call vote: Kent Keams, yes; Ray Rose, yes; Wally Wright, yes; Pete Anderson, yes; Mary Harker, yes; Nolan Briscoe, yes; Gayle Anderson, yes. This motion will be presented to the City Council next Tuesday, January 12, 1999. Chairman, Pete Anderson asks for nomination for a vice chairman. Mary Harker nominated Gayle Anderson. Gayle Anderson nominated Ray Rosen. Wally Wright seconded Gayle's nomination for Ray Rosen. All in favor say yes. Wally Wright, yes; Pete Anderson, yes; Mary Harker, yes; Nolan Briscoe, yes; Gayle Anderson, yes. Land Use and Development Commission January 7, 1999 Page 2 Mary Harker proposed that the commission look over the ordinance regarding dangerous and exotic animals. Mary Harker named, snapping turtles and large snakes, dogs that are difficult to train, etc. We need to consider what animals should be allowed in the city because of concern that breeding such animals in apartments, etc. without neighbors knowledge is not acceptable. Chairman, Pete Anderson replies that this issue really does not fall under LUDC but possibly under conditional use. Larry Kohntopp replies that Tom Holmes, City Attorney is checking into the ordinance and will respond with the information he finds. Chairman, Pete Anderson suggests that when Tom Holmes gets ordinance information that the LUDC is given a chance to look it over. Chairman, Pete Anderson motions to adjourn the meeting.
