Minutes of the recessed meeting of April 8, 1°~°/~/, of the ?~a~or and Council
of the City of Chubkuck, held in the Municipal Office of' the City of Chubbuck
on April 22, 1969.
Present- Henry, Hillman, Thom~.son and Taylor.
Absent- Buchanan.
Called to order 8:07 P.M.
Purpose- Discuss Bannock Development Co~ncil and the advantages of Chukbuck
joining it~ as it may help in our Sewer Project.
Letter from ketropolitan Development Office of Department of Housing and Urban
Develo~gment of San ffrancisco, Californie read in full. Letter is on file.
It is the understanding of the ~myor and Council that we must j~in the Bannock
Development Council before Peter Downs of San Francisco will take any action on
our application for a Grant.
Le~ Hansen explained the Bannock DeYelo~ment Council and stated that It is not,
nor is it intended to be a substitute for local govermment. It is an organization
through which govermmental units can work on regional problems and co-ordinate
their efforts. It is not confined to one County alone. It is a regional orgini-
~ation and can even cross State lines when necessary.
Long discussion followed. It was brought out that this will avoid duplication
of facilities.
Urban Transportation Study was then discussed. It is being held up for the time
being to see ~f the 1970 Census is over 50,000 population for this area and if
~Q~.then we would all come under the Metropolitan Plan. Urban Transportation
would then be a must under the State Highway Dept.
Bannock Development Council is now financed ~an~er the 701 Federal System and it
would require no cost from Chubbuck to join. Ail it asks is that we contribute
services.
