HomeMy WebLinkAbout07 09 1968 CMMinutes of the Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of Chubbuck, held in the Municipal Building og the City if Chubbuck on July 9, 1968. Present- Henry, Buchanan, Thompson, Taylor and McDevitt. Absent- Hillman. Called to order 8:1~ P.M. Minutes of the last regular meeting then read and approved as read. Chubbuck Elementary School- Plans for the new school presented by Virgil Allen of School District #25. To be 18 rooms and cost $~67.000.00. Safety of the Children discussed and needs are school crossing signs, sidewalks, and lower speed limit for the area. Possibility of a joint development of the Park by the City and the ochool District was discussed. Ail plans were studied by the Council and explained by ~. Allen. Audit for 1967- explained in detail by Dale D Jones. Total cost of Audit was $~5.00. Motion to accept the Audit made By Thompson, seconded by Buchanan. Ail in favor. Henry asked Jones about changing the tax rate from a mill levy to a dollar and cents figure and the Auditor said he could see nothing wrong with that if the State Legislature passed such a Bill. City Office Building- Plans presented by C W Smith. Plans were then studied and discussed at length. Decision was to turn this matter over to the Planning Committee. Moving old house into City Limits- ~s. McCallum presented a picture of a house she would like to move from Preston, Idaho to her property on E Chubbuck koad. Building Inspector would have to inspect it first and see if it can be brought up to the present Building Code. Would have to meet all Building Code requirements before Council would even consider it. Trailer Park- McOmber asked about putting a Trailer Park in back of the Colonial Motel. Council adcised him they need plans to see first before any action could be taken. Then he asked i~ he could sell property down by the i~ailroad tracks for people to move Trailer Houses on and live in. This is not allowed by Ordinance # 5~. He then discussed the Burley Drive water line. Tho~pson stated that all the necessary deeds are not signed yet. McOmber is to meet with McDevitt and discuss this further. Ail residents and Paul Thompson are to meet next week and see what can be worked out. Dog Kennel on East Evans Lane- Planning Committee will have to study this. Gilbert Howell explained that they are running a dog kennel now. Council advised that if the dogs create a nuisance he is to call the Police. He then asked about widening Evans ~ane and this is to be studied by the Planning Co]mmittee. Planning Commission and areas represented by each thenmade by Mayor and approved by Council. Appointments as follows: Wayne Taylor-Council and mast benck, Tom Adams- E Ohubbuck Road~ Halvard Green- Stuart Addition, Garry Bro~,m-Country Acres,- Ken Carter- Hawthorne Road and 2eider Addition, Dxvid Poulsen-Greener Pastures, and Doc Horton- County. 'Water outside City Limits- If a~rcus Jones wants water to his place on W Chubbuck Road, he will have to stand the entire expense hLmself. Drive-Inn Snack Bar- Jim Kirtley wants to use a 7railer House for the Kitchen part of a proposed Drive-Inn in the ~200 block of Yellowstone. This is to be studied by the Planning Committee. Well No 2- Arnold Stuart wants to put in a ~ inch line to his Trailer Park on Henry Street. ~yor Henry thinks the line should be at least 8 or 10 inches and the City pay the difference in cost so we can equalize the pressure in the water lines coming from Well No 2. It was then brought out that Stuart has not yet presented his plans to the Council. This Plat needs a Preliminary study before the project is started. Delinquent Water Accounts- Decision was that they pay down to the current month or the water is to be shut off. Seal-coating Streets- Stuart Ave and Hiway Ave both need resealing this year. Check with the County and see if they can do the work and the City pay them for it. Decision was to do Stuart Ave. first. ~rinking Fountain in the Park- Motion was made by Buchanan, seconded by Thompson, that we inst&ll a drinking fountain in the park so the Children playing there can get a drink. This is to be well constructed and done right so they cannot break it as they have the one there now. Bills for the month presented to Council. Motion to approve payment made by Buchanan, seconded by Thompson. Ail in favor. Financial report for the past month presented to the Council. Appointment of Taylor as Department head over the Police Department then made by Mayor Henry and approved by the Council. Meeting then recessed at 11: 15 P.M. till further notice if necessary.
