Dear Chubbuck City Council:
Hello! My name is Caleb Woods, and I am thirteen years old. I live in Chubbuck and am a
homeschool student. I enjoy going on walks and riding my bike. I have noticed that there are
not very many bike lanes and sidewalks, especially along the main roads. I am writing you this
letter because the city of Chubbuck needs to add more bike lanes and sidewalks.
One reason Chubbuck needs more sidewalks is because it is safer for people walking and for
people driving. It also makes it easier to walk from one place to another. Another reason is it
will create a beautiful community and give people a healthy activity. According to The National
Institutes of Health, walking improves health in many ways including improving sleep,
cardiovascular health, and mental health.
Chubbuck needs more bike lanes because it will be safer to ride and be more convenient to bike
to places like work or the park. It also provides a fun and healthy activity. Being able to bike
places has a very positive impact on the environment. According to The Environmental and
Energy Study Institute, in Europe biking prevents sixteen million tons of carbon dioxide from
being released every year, but America's is much lower because we don't have as much
infrastructure. Biking also prevents waste since once a car gets too old it usually goes to a junk
yard and takes up space.
Chubbuck City would benefit from more sidewalks and bikes lanes because it will be safer,
better for the environment, healthier for people, create a nicer community, and provide a fun
activity. After reading this I hope you will see why it is important that the city of Chubbuck
adds more sidewalks and bike lanes.
Sincerely,
Caleb Woods
