Re: Hawthorne Road/1-86 Stormwater Improvement Project — Bid Results
Over the last few years, the stormwater system on Hawthorne Road at the 1-86 underpass, has become
a significant concern. It has gotten to the point where nearly any measurable amount of rainfall or snow
melt will create ponding water on the road, often making the road impassable and unsafe. Our Street
Department has pumped water off of the road approximately 15-20 times over the past year alone. It
has become clear that the existing infiltration system has failed and no longer allows the water to drain.
We have designed a new system to address this concern and bid the project with the plan to have it
installed this fall. The following three bids were received on 9/30/2025:

$206,527.59
This project would be paid for from the Street Department's budget. It is my recommendation that the
Citv Council approve the Mavor to award the Droiect and execute a contract with M&S Development &
Construction in the amount of $139,509.00 for the Hawthorne Ro
Project.
