HomeMy WebLinkAboutVol. 9, Issue 1Friends, Another year has come and gone. It was a great year to live in Chubbuck as much was accomplished to make our community a wonderful place to live. I sincerely hope that each one of you had a wonderful holiday season. Spending time with friends and family can really be rejuvenating. We had an election with 3 of our city council members up for election and all 3 that were currently serving were re-elected. That bodes well for a contented citizenship. I believe that we are heading in the correct direction and apparently the voters agree with that line of thought. We now begin a new year. It is always exciting to start new. The wheels are already turning to bring a wonderful 2024 for all of us. The staff are working diligently with your best interests in mind. We believe that this year will see some interesting developments in our city. We have already had a substantial amount of snow, and more is forecast for the winter season. As hard as snow can be to deal with it also brings recreation opportunities and the snowpack provides needed moisture for our growing season. Please be aware of your elderly neighbors and others in need of help and offer to be there for them. I see this happening all over Chubbuck and it makes me proud to be a part of such giving and caring people. It is my hope that all is well with each of you and that you will have a safe and prosperous new year. Quarterly Newsletter January 2024 Volume 9, Issue 1 What is a Comprehensive Plan? Can I participate in the update? The Comprehensive Plan is a 20-year vision for Chubbuck and its residents. It will reflect the voice of residents and the business community and be the guiding document for shaping the City’s future. Idaho laws require us to have a comprehensive plan that includes things such as zoning, economic development, housing, and transportation. The plan is put into action by setting goals and identifying policies and strategies to attain them. The future of Chubbuck is in your hands! How to get involved – 1) See the city website at www.cityofchubbuck.us, there’s a link to the Comprehensive Plan update at the top of the page, 2) while you’re on the plan web page, click on the link to join an email list for occasional updates, and 3) participate in public outreach events in the spring and fall of 2024. Please be courteous by removing snow and ice from walkways, sidewalks and parking lots under your care. City Code (08-28-030) requires owners or renters of properties to provide “all weather passage” to pedestrians, which means you must shovel your snow. Please do not plow, shovel or blow snow into city streets. You can be cited for not shoveling your snow or for placing snow onto rights-of-way or parks parking lots. Please place your snow on your property and not on the city street or park parking lot . Winter parking is a problem when those who park on the streets (legally and illegally) are in the way of snow removal equipment. Please park all vehicles off the street if at all possible during winter to facilitate snow removal. If a snow emergency is declared by the mayor, failure to remove vehicles from the street may result in the vehicle being towed to an alternate location and paying a tow bill. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Chubbuck Police Code Enforcement at 208- 237-7172. 2024 Registration!!!
