HomeMy WebLinkAboutVol. 7, Issue 3Friends, Can we talk about water again for a bit? From the reports that I have seen we are in a very low water year, and many are calling it a drought currently. We have had some good rain this Spring, but as things dry up this summer let us all be aware of this situation and use this very limited commodity in a responsible way. As I look out the window right now the mountains and hills are green. If past experience tells us anything, that will not last. We are fortunate as a city to have good water rights, but as water becomes scarcer that creates challenges for all involved. This summer will be full of fun things to do. We are excited to have a full schedule of Movies in the Park again this year. They will be at Stuart Park and will be every Friday night beginning on July 8th thru 12th. Plan to bring your family and friends a have a great time with your community. Chubbuck Days will be August 12th and 13th. The events of Saturday August 13th will include the annual parade and lots of fun, food, and games at Cotant Park following the parade. This is always a great time to gather and meet up with old friends and make some new friends. Let’s all commit to keeping this wonderful tradition running strong. Life is full and busy. Make sure and plan time this summer to take care of the things that are most important to you. There will be great opportunities to serve others in our area. I am thrilled to live in an area that is caring and active in taking care of each other. Thank you, each and every one, for all you do to keep Chubbuck the best place to live on earth. Please remember to always have your garbage and recycle cart out by 7:00 AM Message from the Chubbuck Police Department: Did you know that the simple act of locking up and securing your property (especially cars) greatly reduces “crimes of opportunity”? If you see anyone or anything unusual or you suspect something isn’t right please, immediately call the Police Dispatch at 208-237-7173. The heat of summer poses life threatening situations to people and animals. Please do not leave your children or pets sitting in cars even if you are just running into the store. Also, remember that your pets if left outside will need shade and fresh water at all times. Call Animal Control at 208-239-3249. Message from Ulity Billing Department: Attention Utility Customers Has your contact information changed? Please make sure we have your current contact information to insure that important account information and notices are able to be received by you. Call Utility Billing at 208-417-7175 or email utilitybilling@cityofchubbuck.us to update your contact information. Message from the Chubbuck Water Department: It’s sprinkler time!!! As the weather has warmed up and our yards need water, we’d like everyone to be aware of a few things. When a new automatic sprinkler system is installed or modified, a plumbing permit from the City is required. Every automatic sprinkler system connected to the city’s drinking water system requires a backflow prevention device that is required to be tested following installation or modifications and annually. All of this is needed to help ensure our drinking water remains safe. More information about this can be found on the Water Department’s page on the City’s website.
