HomeMy WebLinkAboutVol. 5, Issue 3Greetings,
I just want to take this opportunity to say thank you to this wonderful community. We have certainly had a unique start to the year
2020. There has been a whole lot asked of each one of us in the recent months and this community has come through in a very
exemplary way. It makes me proud to call Chubbuck my home.
As I type this message we are still being told that we are not “out of the woods” yet. I would just respond to that message with this
message to each of you. We have been educated about the Coronavirus, Covid 19, and our risk of being infected. We have been
taught ways to keep ourselves, and our community, healthy. I would council each of us to use common sense and do the best that we
can and I believe that we will continue to conquer this challenge together.
If all stays well, we plan on having several public events this summer. Look for future announcements of such. We only ask that
you determine your own level of participation and do your part to abide by the protocols that will be requested and we will have
some enjoyable times together.
All my best and Be Well,
Mayor Kevin England

Message from the Chubbuck Police Department
The simple act of locking up and securing your personal property (especially cars) greatly reduces “crimes of opportunity”.
If you see anyone or anything unusual or you suspect something isn’t right please, immediately call the Police Dispatch at 237-7173.
The heat of summer poses life threatening situations to people and animals. Do not leave your children or pets sitting in cars even
if you are just running into the store. Please remember also that your pets left outside need shade and fresh water at all times.
Property maintenance isn’t just a courtesy it’s the law. City codes require citizens to maintain their properties “reasonably” free of
weeds, grasses and other blighting influences. By keeping up the appearance of our properties we enhance the quality of life for all
citizens and maintain property values.
If we can keep these issues in mind and abide by these laws we can continue to enjoy this wonderful place to live. You can clarify
these codes by going to http://www.sterlingcodifiers.com/codebook/index.php?book_id=632 or by calling Ordinance Enforcement at
208-239-3227.
Message from the Chubbuck Community Planning & Economic Development Department
Chubbuck Business Licenses
With summer here we get an increase of door to door sales people. These solicitors need to be working for a company that
has a current Chubbuck business license and have submitted their individual solicitor information to the city. They must sign an
agreement against aggressive solicitation as well. Each solicitor is required to have a copy of the Chubbuck business license
with them. This can be a copy or picture on an electronic device that they can show as proof. If you have someone at your
door that cannot provide the documentation you can contact the Chubbuck Police dept.
Business license requirements in the City of Chubbuck have been around almost as long as the city, the Village of Chubbuck
was incorporated in 1949. The first license was enacted by ordinance number 4 on May 8, 1951 for coin operated
amusements. Then ordinance number 20 on June 12, 1953 approved the licensing for vendors entering the city. Later the
occupational business license was approved by ordinance number 33 on Jan 10, 1956. We have had business licenses ever
since. The city municipal code requires that all doing business in Chubbuck have a Chubbuck Business license, regardless of
their physical address.
A business license helps to ensure that the zoning is correct for the particular business use. Furthermore it provides a way to
make sure the businesses building is safe and meets fire and building codes. It provides contact information if a problem
arises.
All businesses in Chubbuck are required to post their business license; you should be able to see it or ask to see it at any time.
The business license application can be picked up from the Community Planning & Economic Development Dept. or questions
answered by calling Paul Andrus at 208-237-2430 ext. 109.
