HomeMy WebLinkAboutVol. 3, Issue 3 Let me tell you that I count it a blessing to be a part of this amazing community that we live in. The positive nature of
the people that call this home is motivating to say the least. When there are needs in this city there is a get it done
attitude that is contagious.
A few weeks ago I had a neighbor who was planning a project around his home that looked a little daunting to me. I
asked if I could help and maybe get a few of the other neighbors to provide some muscle. He graciously accepted that
offer and 24 hours and a dozen or so helpers later the project was accomplished. His wife provided drinks and
sandwiches and a neighborhood became a little closer. I want to say thank you to all involved.
Let me share a favorite poem of mine with you:
I watched them tearing a building down;
A group of men in a busy town
with a ho-heave-ho and a lusty yell,
They swung a beam and a sidewall fell.
I asked the foreman, “Are these men skilled?
Would you hire these men if you were going to build?”
Common labor is all I need.
I can easily wreck in a day or two,
That which take builders years to do.”
I thought to myself as I walked away;
Which of these roles have I tried to play?
Am I a builder who builds with care,
Who measure life with a compass and square,
Who follows life with a straight laid plan,
And patiently does the best he can?
Or am I a wrecker who walks the town,
Content on the labor of tearing down?
We are so blessed to live in a town of builders. People who really, really care. Thank you for letting me be a part of such
a wonderful community.
With warm regards,
Mayor Kevin England

Message from the Chubbuck Police Department
The simple act of locking up and securing your personal property (especially cars) greatly reduces “crimes of
opportunity”. If you see anyone or anything unusual or you suspect something isn’t right please, immediately call the
Police Dispatch at 237-7172.
Did you know that proper disposing of old prescription medication may be done at the Chubbuck Police Department?
Just place your unused or unwanted medications in a zip lock bag and bring it to the lobby. The police department can take
anything except for Sharps and aerosols.
The heat of summer poses life threatening situations to people and animals. Do not leave your children or pets sitting
in cars even if you are just running into the store. Please remember also that your pets left outside need shade and fresh
water at all times.
Property maintenance isn’t just a courtesy it’s the law. City codes require citizens to maintain their properties
“reasonably” free of weeds, grasses and other blighting influences. By keeping up the appearance of our properties we
enhance the quality of life for all citizens and maintain property values.
If we can keep these issues in mind and abide by these laws we can continue to enjoy this wonderful place to live.
