HomeMy WebLinkAboutVol. 3, Issue 2 Greetings, I am always so impressed with the quality of people that we have here at the city offices serving the needs of this community. It is a pleasure to work with these dedicated folks. They really do have your wellbeing in mind as they go about their assigned duties. They are professional and always go above expectations. I would like to publicly thank each one of them for the wonderful way that they represent the best in all of us. Spring is upon us and with spring comes the opportunity for newness. New starts, new plans, new perspectives. Winter and dark and cold can sometimes get us down. Spring’s light and warmth can be truly revitalizing. It marks a time to get outside and get things done. Look around you and make some plans to accomplish some great things in the coming weeks and months. This community is going to see some wonderful transformations in the coming months. The flurry of activity that will be happening around the new Northgate Interstate Exchange will be unique. Many different contractors under many different contracts will be at work. This really will be a one of a kind project. I encourage one and all to keep an eye on it, it should be fascinating. We have had meetings with the folks who will be building a Medical Campus in our area and they are getting things in order to start the first phase of their building projects later this year. Also, realtors tell us there is a shortage of available homes, therefore we are looking for a robust residential building season. There will be a lot of street work taking place this year which will require some patience as we traverse our city. We are growing and positive things are being planned for that growth. There will be many opportunities to get involved and see that your voice is heard. Be positive and be part. What a great time to live in Chubbuck. With warm regards, Mayor Kevin B. We live in a great community and sometimes we can be a bit too trusting. Trust us when we say that criminals are aware of this. You have heard the saying “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. Warm weather and a general feeling of safety allows us to let our guard down resulting in forgetting to close the garage door or fail to lock the door when we leave our homes or vehicles. Remember the simple act of locking your doors and securing your property, especially cars greatly reduces “crimes of opportunity”. Unfortunately we see a steady flow of scam type phone calls at the Chubbuck Police. We cannot emphasis enough, if you don’t know who you are speaking to personally, do not give them any personal information over the phone. These scams will continue as long as people fall victim to them, do your part to protect yourself and your family. The heat of summer will be here soon which can pose some hazards to people and animals. Do not leave your children or pets in cars even for brief periods. Please remember that your pets left outside need shade and fresh water at all times, they will thank you for it. We would also like to remind the citizens of the importance of property maintenance. City codes require citizens to maintain their properties “reasonably” free of weeds and other blighting influences. By keeping up the appearance of our properties we enhance the quality of life for all citizens and maintain property values. If we can keep these issues in mind we can continue to enjoy this wonderful place to live. You may clarify these codes by visiting our website at https://cityofchubbuck.us or by calling 239-3227 asking for Ordinance Enforcement. As always If you see anything unusual or suspect something isn’t right please call the Police at 237-7172 Message from the Chubbuck Fire Department Message from the Chubbuck Police Department To schedule a Chubbuck Fire Station tour or any other type of fire and life safety presentation please contact: Merlin Miller Fire Chief (208) 237-3212 mmiller@cityofchubbuck.us *Holiday & Garbage Service Notes The City Offices will be closed on Monday, May 28th, 2018 in honor of Memorial Day.
