Greetings,
I was going to start by saying, don’t you just love this time of year? And then I realized I love every time of year as I am sure
each of you do to. The changing seasons are beautiful, each in its own way. Now as to why I was feeling this way about
the middle of June. Summer is here. We have just experienced a wonderful Spring where things begin to green up and grow.
New life is all around us. Now for a lot of Summer time fun in the sun. Family picnics and outdoor adventures will be
plentiful. I hope you each have some great plans for your Summer months. Just remember that Summer time efforts will bring
greatly anticipated Fall feasts.
The topic of community beautification comes up often in many circles. Do we have some areas of need to have a healthy, safe,
and attractive city? Yes, we do. Now the question becomes; who has responsibility to see to these needs? It is my opinion that
government should have a limited role in this. Where health and safety are concerned and in proper encouragement
government has a role. Aside from this the business community, neighborhoods, neighbors, friends, and family can accomplish
the larger portion of this work. Each of us, individually, should assess for ourselves where we feel these challenges exist a nd
then
determine what we may be able to properly do to be part of the solution. It needs to start by each of us who own property having
the commitment to keeping our little piece of this community orderly and attractive. Now that is an interesting standard. Who
should determine the level of that standard? It is my suggestion that individual property owners need to set that standard for
themselves. We should each maintain properties that we, and our community can be proud of. If the business community,
neighborhoods, neighbors, friends, and family see that some have set that standard to low, or are having difficulty maintaining
that standard, they should find ways to encourage, inspire, and assist. There will be those who have financial and physical
limitations. This community has always shown the desire and commitment to reach out to those in need.
We have had some individuals from our business community step up and make a commitment to help beautify our Main
Streets. How exciting. In the coming days you may notice some beautification efforts in this area if they can secure the need ed
permissions. I would like to offer my personal thanks, and as the Mayor, the thanks of the City of Chubbuck for this effort by
those involved. Let’s allow this mind set to inspire us to recommit to doing our part. We at the city will put our best effor ts into
modeling this standard. What a wonderful community we live in.
With warm regards,
Mayor Kevin England

Message from the Chubbuck Police Department
Each year, as Police Week is celebrated across the country, two members of the Chubbuck Police Department are recognized by t heir
peers for their distinguished work in service to the safety of our great community.
This year, our Outstanding Non Sworn Member is Ms. Sydney Hutchison, a Communications Specialist. She has been a distinguish ed
member of our staff for nearly 5 years and during that time has excelled in many areas which require her constant and determi ned and
professional attention. Working in dispatch as a trainer, she is able to form and shape new hired dispatchers into additiona lly great
teammates. In her off time she enjoys running an animal rescue that provides happiness to families both in and out of our lo cal
community. We are very proud of her and happy to have her as part of our team! We are excited to congratulate her on this n ewest
accolade!
Additionally, our Outstanding Sworn Member is Officer Levi Nutt. He also has been a distinguished member of our staff for ne arly
3 years. During that time he has shown inspired determination, professionalism and a knack for working both smart and hard.
His constantly outgoing and friendly attitude lends much to his position as a police officer. He is constantly working and a spiring to
achieve our department mission of enhancing the quality of life while providing the highest level of professionalism here in Chubbuck.
In his off time he is a literal Idaho outdoorsman who enjoys all Idaho has to offer. We are very happy to have him as part o f our team
and proudly congratulate him on this outstanding achievement!
We are happy to recognize their outstanding achievements in the short time they both have in service to this community and ar e
specially happy to be able to have them as hard working partners in the City of Chubbuck. They are both outstanding represen tatives of
the finest men and women we have serving your agency and the city at large. We are very happy to make all of Chubbuck aware of the
fine people we have working to serve them at the Chubbuck Police Department.
Wastewater utilities are only designed to handle the 3 Ps (pee, poop, and toilet
paper), but across the nation, utilities are spending an increasing amount of time
and money on removing products such as wipes, paper towels, feminine
hygiene products, and dental floss from their collection systems and treatment
plants. The City of Chubbuck is not immune from these problems – our pumps,
pipes, and plant are getting clogged with these products, too!
The City of Chubbuck asks you to do your part to keep sewer rates low and
protect our infrastructure and the environment. Remember that the toilet is not
a trashcan, and only flush the 3 Ps – pee, poop, and toilet paper!
