Greetings,
Life is good and we are blessed.
I would like to address a vital issue to our community today. That is water. Water is a natural resource that we often take f or
granted. We turn taps and this precious resource flows. We should always remember that a large amount of time, money and effo rt
go into making sure that flow happens. In our desert climate water is in limited supply. We in this area have the great bless ing of the
Snake River Plain Aquifer. We are depleting this supply of ground water by pumping from it. Millions of dollars and
cooperative efforts are being dedicated to recharge the Aquifer. Did you know that we in Idaho use the most water per capita than
any other state? This is mostly because of irrigation. As a matter of fact Municipal use represents less than 3% of the water use in
the state, but what an important 3%. So what can we do as a community to conserve this life sustaining resource? We at the ci ty
have a few suggestions and would welcome all of your individual efforts in this regard. If you have additional suggestions to help,
we would love to hear them.
1) As we come to the time of year where we will be watering lawns, gardens, and other plantings we could cut our personal
use by 10% by setting our irrigation systems to 9 minutes per section instead of 10 minutes. Those, like me, who still hand
water, could try to mirror this by also cutting 1 minute off of every 10 minutes we water. Also, you may consider looking
into xeriscaping for some of your yard. This is a little to no water landscaping option.
2) Personal hygiene habits that take water like brushing teeth, showers, washing hands, face, dishes and clothes can send a
lot of water down the drain. With small, conscientious efforts from each of us in this area we could conserve thousands of
gallons of water.
3) Washing cars, toys, equipment, walks and driveways uses large amounts of water. In this area let’s be careful and
conservative.
We commit to these very efforts at the city and look forward to working with you to conserve our precious water. We all can
voluntarily do this and make a considerable difference. Thank you for your consideration.
Life is good and we are blessed.
With warm regards,
Mayor Kevin England

Message from the Chubbuck Police Department Something to consider this spring and
summer. You have heard the saying
“an ounce of prevention is worth a
pound of cure”. The warming weather
and a general feeling of safety allows us
to let our guards down resulting in
us forgetting to close the garage door or
failing to lock our doors when we leave
our homes or vehicles. Remember the
simple act of locking your doors and
securing your property (cars included)
greatly reduces “crimes of
opportunity”. If you see anything
unusual or suspect that something isn’t
right, please call the Police at 237-7172.
