It has been fun, and quite tasty to see what our gardening efforts have produced. There is nothing better than fresh cucumbers and tomatoes in a salad and fresh corn on the cob. One of my favorites from fall harvest is freshly dug potatoes. I have not yet grown them in my own gardening efforts, so I need to say thank you to the farmers who do all this work. Nobody in the world does a better job of growing delicious potatoes than the farmers in our area. One year when I was in Washington DC, I went to 5 Guys to buy a burger and the sign in the store said the potatoes from which they had made their fresh french fries were from a farm in Southeast Idaho. How fun. The City Council has worked hard over the last few years to free up more money with which to maintain our roads. Our Public Works Department has done a tremendous job in making those dollars go just as far as possible. I hope that each of you can see this work and how it benefits our whole community. Our budget process, which starts in February, went very smoothly. It took lots of work and lots of questions, but we produced a budget that serves our citizens, and all our city needs very well. With the change of seasons comes a change in temperature and weather conditions. Please be aware of these changes and look out for those in our city that may need some help with things like closing things up for winter and, dare I say, snow removal from our sidewalks. The elderly, and others with special needs, can use some timely help in this regard. I see these acts of love and service every year and it makes me proud to be part of such a caring community. Thank you each for all that you do, Mayor Kevin England December 2024 Important Dates to Remember Dec. 1-Utility Bill Due Dec. 4-City Council Work Study/4PM Dec. 4- City Council Meeting/6PM Dec. 10-LUDC Meeting/6PM **Dec. 11-City Halliday Event Dec. 16-Utility Bill Past Due Dec. 18-City Council Meeting/6PM *Dec. 25 -In observance of Christmas Day-City Hall Closed *Jan. 1, 2025-In observance of New Year’s Day –City Hall Closed *Red Cross Blood Drive City of Chubbuck Multi-Purpose Room October 24,2024 290 E.
