CHUBBUCK July 2024
_
Message from the Mayor:
Friends,
Summer rolls around again with all its fun and a few challenges. Gardens are planted and growing with great
expectations. Vacations are underway or being planned for and the heat is here or on its way. Water seems abundant at
present but with a warmer than usual summer being forecast it is important that we conserve water wherever possible.
One place to be aware of is if you have leaks of any kind on your property. We need to find those and fix them as soon
as possible. I believe that as a community we do really well in not wasting any of our natural resources. I commend each
of you for your consideration in this area.
The city has some fun things planned for and available to you during this pleasant time of year. Baseball and softball
are up and running and we have had wonderful participation with these youth programs this year. We will be doing
Movies in the Park on Fridays during the summer with some fun movies to come and watch as a family and with friends.
Chubbuck Days is being planned and it is always a great time to come together as a community to celebrate and play
together. The Splash Pad is up and running. Please use this amenity according to the rules so it can provide fun and heat
relief during the entire season.
We are experiencing some vandalism around the city and would ask that each of us take ownership of our areas of the
city. If you see things happening that are not appropriate do all that is withing your means to correct it. Report to us if
you see vandalism that has happened or is happening. These things have a substantial cost to us as a community.
I want to thank you all for making Chubbuck a great place to live. This is a great place because you are great people.
With warm regards,
Mayor England

Message from the Chubbuck Water Department:
It's sprinkler time!!! As the weather has warmed up and our yards need water, we'd like everyone to be
aware of a few things. When a new automatic sprinkler system is installed or modified, a plumbing permit
from the City is required. Every automatic sprinkler system connected to the city's drinking water system
requires a backflow prevention device that is required to be tested following installation or modifications and
annually. A RP backflow device is especially needed when utilizing city water and canal water provided to
some residential neighborhoods. All of this is needed to help ensure our drinking water remains safe. More
information about this can be found on the Water Department's page on the City's website.

Message from the Chubbuck Water Department:
Resident, do you own a home built before 1991? The city needs your help to help identify
the water service line material from the water meter into your home. This is required to meet
the EPA and DEQ's revised Lead and Copper Rule (LCCR). Service lines are typically
copper, galvanized steel, plastic (PVC or PEX), or lead. The goal is to identify any lead piping
and ultimately remove it from the system to eliminate any lead contamination in drinking
water and increase public health. Please visit the Water Department's page at
cityofchubbuck.us for more information and to complete the required form.

Message from the Chubbuck Police Department:
♦ Did you know that the simple act of locking up and securing your property (especially cars) greatly
♦ reduces "crimes of opportunity"? If you see anyone or anything unusual or you suspect something isn't
right please, immediately call the Police Dispatch at 208-237-7173.
♦ The heat of summer poses life threatening situations to people and animals. Please do not leave your
♦ children or pets sitting in cars even if you are just running into the store. Also, remember that your pets
♦ if left outside will need shade and fresh water at all times. Call Animal Control at 208-239-3249.
