HomeMy WebLinkAbout01 11 1966 CM J27 Minute~ of the Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Chubbuck, held in the Municipal Buildin~ of the Village of Ch~buck on January 11, 1966. Present- Ward, Hillman, Underwood and McDevitt. Absent- Twiggs and Christensen. Called to order 8:00 P.M. Minutes of the lase regular meeting then read and approved as read. Minutes of the meeting with the State Highway Dept. held on January 5, 1966 will be read at next meeting. New Board members- Buchanan, Henry and Hillman, then sworn into office by Clerk. Election of Chairman- Hillman nominated Ward, seconded by Underwood. Underwood then made a motion that nominations cease, seconded by Buchanan. Ail in favor. Ward is the Chairman of the Board. _~ Apoointments by Chairman- Police Officers- Carl Hensley. and George Lessert. Cl@rk- Geneva D. Valenty. Treasurer- kenneth H Kennedy. Attorney- Herman J. McDevitt. Fire Chief- Carl Hensley. Police Judge- Charlotte T. Kennedy- Shut-off man- Carl Hensley. Motion to approve all appointments as made by Chairman made by Buchanan, : Seconded by Henry. All in favor. -'~ Public Hearing- on the question of making a General Tax levy for the Village of Chubbuck for the current fiscal year in an amount of not to exceed 25 mills on each * dollar of the assessed valuation of all taxable property in said Village. No one appeared to protest. Ordinance # 67- Annual Appropriation Ordinance of 1966, then read in full by McDevitt. Motion to suspend the rules, read once in full and twice by Title, made by Underwood, seconded by Hillman. Roll call vote for suspension of rules~ Buchanan-yes, Henry-yes, Hillman-yes, Underwood-yes and Ward-yes. Ordinance #67 then read twice by Title by McDevitt. Roll Call vote for passage of Ordinance # 67, Buchanan-yes, Henry-yes, Hillman-yes, Underwood-yes and Ward-yes. Protest against Coin-operated Service Stations- All the petroleum dealers of Chubbuck who operate service stations in Chubbuck were present and presented their protest to coin-operated service stations. Copy of their protest is attached herewith to these minutes. After a long discussion the Board agreed they will look into this matter and asked McDevttt to study the problem and give them an opinion on the subject in a week or two. Civil Defense- Elmer Terry was vresent and explained the benefits of the Civil Defense Program and asked the Board to consider Village membership in the program. Membership would provide cooperation in many fields other than just Defense. Board all agreed they would consider this matter. Bills for the month presented to Board. Motion to approve payment of bills made by Hillman, seconded by Buchanan. All in favor. Finsncial and Police reports for the month presented to Board. Copies of Financial and Budget reports for past fiscal year presented to Board. Sanitation- Hillman asked when our present contract with Parks would be up and when it would by put out for bids. This information will have to be presented at a later meeting as the answere were not available now. Meeting recessed at 9:30 P.M. till further n~t~if necessary. ~ Chairman of Board Village Clerk
