Design Review Meeting
April 24, 2017
Applicant: Verizon Wireless
Proposed site address: 4240 Yellowstone and 141 East Chubbuck Road
Present: Mayor England; Rodney Burch, Public Works Director; Paul Andrus, City Planner; Randy Severe, Police Chief; Merlin Miller, Fire Marshall; Nelli Simmons, Office Administrator.
Meeting today is a site plan review for 2 small cell towers. Todd Daoust with Digital Skylines is present representing Verizon.
Small cells are used to address a specific issue where coverage is not available at certain times.
First tower is on the roof of Walmart with them having a national contract. This is to ensure the phones that Walmart are selling have good coverage in the store. It is a canister antenna
and is only 2 feet tall. Small cell sites are more often than not 5 watts. This is a very simple and low impact antenna. It will be set back from the edges of the roof and will not
be very visible. There are no concerns by City staff and the feeling is there will be more applications like this one.
City staff approved the application.
Second site is replacing a light pole in the parking lot at Elevate Salon Institute. The antennae will be mounted to a new 35’ pole. Staff would like a low level shrub planted on the
northwest side of the box for visibility reasons. No other concerns from City staff. Paul will supply Todd with a list of approved shrubs. Colocation on the pole is not included in
the leases. City approved the application.
Building permit application will go to Ray Griffin, building official.
