Friends,
We really do live in a desert climate. This year is looking to be a bit of a low water year. As I see what is happening thru the
Colorado Basin, we are fortunate to not have the draught that they are experiencing. All that being said, it is my encouragement to
each of us to use the precious and limited commodity we call water with careful planning. Our folks that tend to our water te ll me
that consumption is up considerably already this late spring and early summer.
I am so glad that we will have the opportunity to gather and enjoy the company of others this summer. There is a full slate o f
Movies in the Park, beginning July 9th and running thru August 20th. We will be celebrating Chubbuck Days on August 13th and 14th.
Look on the City website for a full listing of activities. Baseball and Softball have had a great season this year and has be en a lot of
fun to watch.
As we contemplate the shutdown that we all experienced this last year, let us all count our blessings that we have had a heal thy
community restored to us. There are still those who struggle with loss and challenge from this last year. We should all be aware of
those who could use a helping hand and words of encouragement. We mourn with those that experienced losses. We live in a kind
community and need to look for those that need kindness expressed, in word and deed, to them. I thank each of you for all tha t you
do and the inspiring way that you do your part.
With warm regards,
Mayor Kevin England

Message from the Chubbuck Police Department:
Did you know that the simple act of locking up and securing your property (especially cars) greatly reduces “crimes of
opportunity”? If you see anyone or anything unusual or you suspect something isn ’t right please, immediately call the Police
Dispatch at 208-237-7173.
The heat of summer poses life threatening situations to people and animals. Please do not leave your children or pets sitti ng in
cars even if you are just running into the store. Also remember that your pets if left outside will need shade and fresh wa ter at
all times. Call Animal Control at 208-239-3249.
Property maintenance isn’t just a courtesy it’s the law. City codes require citizens to maintain their properties “reasonably”
free of weeds, grasses and other blighting influences. By keeping up the appearance of our properties we enhance the
quality of life for all citizens and maintain property values.
If we can keep these issues in mind and abide by these laws we can continue to enjoy this wonderful place to live.
You may clarify these codes by going to http://www.sterlingcodifiers.com/codebook/index.php?book_id=632 or by calling
208-239-3227 and asking for Ordinance Enforcement.

Message from the Chubbuck Water Department:
It’s sprinkler time!!! As the weather has warmed up and our yards need water, we’d like everyone to be aware of a few
things. When a new automatic sprinkler system is installed or modified, a plumbing permit from the City is required.
Every automatic sprinkler system connected to the city’s drinking water system requires a backflow prevention device
that is required to be tested following installation or modifications and annually. All of this is needed to help ensure our
drinking water remains safe. More information about this can be found on the Water Department’s page on the City’s
website.
