In your hour of need make sure and reach out to loved ones and friends to find help and relief. Let us all be extra diligent in watching for those in our community that are overburdened and in need of a lifting experience. In most cases it will take no more than a friendly hello or an encouraging wave. However, let's all be willing to do whatever it takes for those in need. The City of Chubbuck seems to be one of the healthiest in the State and for that matter in the good old USA. It is vital that we are respectful to others in the path that they have chosen in dealing with our societal challenges. We have many differing opinions that have been developed through advice and counsel and each ! individual's decisions should be respected. i We are going to find this question on the ballot at the November General Election, "Do you support explor- ing the consolidation of Pocatello and Chubbuck into one city?" Many have questioned the correctness of the i I Bannock County Commission for placing the question on a county wide ballot. I will address this issue a little i i more on my vlog post this Friday, Sept. 18 if you would like to view that. But to be brief, if you would like i i this issue to just go away vote no. i Fall is here. Enjoy all that this season brings us. Keep a smile on your face and positive thoughts on your i i mind. Leaves must be bagged and placed in the front of your property. Call the City at 237-2430 to be', placed on the weekly list. Garbage service will be 1 day late. The City will place 2 large containers at City Hall to collect extra bags of trash from December 28-31 ONLY. The City will also collect Christmas trees for 2 weeks starting December 28 thru January 8 ONLY. Please put your tree out on your regular garbage day. This service is for Christmas trees ONLY, please remove all lights, ornaments and tree stands. 2021 New Year's Day, the City Offices will be closed, Friday, January 1st Garbage service will be 1 day late. ................................................................................................................................................................................. ti Message from Chubbuck Sanitation Department: The Sanitation Department will be getting a new sanitation truck sometime in December, 2020. This new truck is equipped to only pickup 1 sanitation cart at a time, so residents with 2 sanitation carts to pickup will need to separate them by at least 3ft. to accommodate enough space for the truck's collection arm. .................................................................................................................................................................................... : Don't formet the City of Chubbuck APP! Be sure to download today with your Apple or Android device. —, i Message from the Community Planning & Economic Development Department: Chubbuck's Future Downtown The new City Hall building is under construction at the corner of Linden and Burley, and the city is working on i a new plan for the surrounding area. This effort will create a long-range plan of goals and strategies to create i i something like a downtown area. It will help guide individual design and construction projects, both private andpublic investments. i i i Two recent surveys about downtown issues were announced on social media, and over 250 people responded i i to both. Here are some of the results. i I What should the area be called? 46% felt it should be called something else besides downtown, 23% ' preferred calling it downtown, while 31% were comfortable with either downtown or something else. Some of i the most suggested names included the words district, square, or center/central. i i What kind of theme(s) or atmosphere could be used to help identify the area, such as for business marketing and recruitment, and design guidelines? The top four answers (out of 30 suggestions) were: friendly for all ages (kids, elderly), walkways and greenbelts, street trees for shade, and a variety of foods, restaurants i i and food trucks. i I What types of things ought to be built into the downtown? (This would be done over a long period of time with private and public projects.) The most popular choices were: courtyards, water features (fountains i etc.), sidewalk or outdoor shaded dining, and pocket parks. i i When new streets are created, what kind of theme do you like for street names? For instance, there will be new streets behind and next to the new City Hall. (There are no plans to change existing street names.)
