HomeMy WebLinkAbout07 21 1972 CMA special meeting of Mayor and Council held in the city municipal building July 21,
1972 at 5:00 o'clock p.m.
Present: Mayor Cotant, Councilmen Kinghorn, Menard Romriell and Taylor. Engineer
Larry Perkins and clerk Yera Armstrong.
Purpose of the special meeting was to disQuss the use of concrete pipe only in the
sewer project.
CONCRETE PIPE FG~ SEWER- Larry Perkins, engineer, explained to co%~n~'.Ll~the two
different pipes he had specified on the sewer bid which are as~-concrete
(transite) and concrete. Mr. Perkins stated permission would have to be granted
from HUD to specify concrete only and added that from an engineering standpoint
he felt one product was as good as the other. Mayor remarked he would like to see
the local industry receive the impact of the project as much as possible.
After a general discussion the council seemed to favor specifying concrste only
and Councilman Wayne Taylor made motion the engineer specify concrete pipe only
on the sewer project bids. Menard seconded the motion and all councilmen voted
in favor.
Mr. Perkins requested the mayor form a letter instructing him to specify concrete
pipe only in bids. Mr. Perkins informed mayor ar~ com~cil he had all his specs
ready and would need to add an addendum to bid. Council agreed to this.
GARBAGE PICK UP - Mayor told council the-city has had the responsibility of the
commercial sanitation pick up left to them as of July 31st and the bids are called
for July 31st which doesn't give a bidder time to get truck and containers to take
over the garbage pick up August 1st. Bi~ interest is also low. After further
discussion it was general feeling the city should possibly assume the garbage
hauling. Councilman Romriell made motion the Mayor make whatever necessary
arrangements for the city to take over the sanitation pick up. Menard seconded
and all councilmen voted in favor of the motion.
Meeting adjourned at 6:60 p.m.
Clerk Vera C. Armstrong
